Many aren't used to the Windows 8 start screen and I can relate to it when I used the release preview. But when I began to use it more and more, I notice the advantage of it compare to previous version of the OS. Unlike Windows 7 and below where the start menu are similar design since Windows 95, Windows 8 start screen is created so it's more customized for that individual user. What I mean is I can pin the programs I used the most onto the start screen and arrange the programs to my own likings. This makes each user's start screen unique instead of having the same layout. So with that I call it "my own start".
If anyone wants to use Windows 8, they need to approach it from a different perspective. If not, then change may be difficult. Just imagine a future geek where the very first OS that's introduced to him is the start screen in Windows 8. What will he think if he sees the start menu of Windows 7. Will he have the same reaction as the same way we see the start screen of Windows 8? He'll look at Windows 7 start menu and say what is this crap?

Its a crappy UI design.
I see Metro working for novices. If all you do is facebook, youtube and browse a few web sites... Win8 may do okay.
For any real techie who wants to use his computer HIS way... its pure crap. What I'm doing NOW on my Win7 desktop *IS* completely impossible under METRO.
And do understand... the goal is to kill Windows, replace it with METRO in 3~5 years.
I'm about done with Win8 on my notebook, going to install LinuxMint and re-learn how to use a non-MS OS.
The Start Screen is very NON-customizable. And its... rather ugly. The desktop is ugly. The concept is ugly.
And as we see... Dell was stupid enough to think that WIN 8 would generate PC sales?!
Unless you are doing keyboard short-cuts, with a regular desktop computer or notebook... it takes more effort to move the mouse all over the screen to do the same thing compare to Win7. The whole thing is stupid. Metro could have been made to run on top of the desktop (like regular windows apps) and have a metro strip along the side...
THEN the LIVE-TILES would have been FUNCTIONAL! All that live-tile stuff is rendered useless since YOU CAN'T see them when in desktop or running an metro-APP. The system tray in Win7 tells you things... as do the tasks buttons on the task-bar.
MS / Win8 = fail.
