Romney never fully conquered social media platform

When it comes to social networking, one cannot deny that reelected American President Barack Obama's campaign team thoroughly trumped Republican challenger Mitt Romney's team.

Even a late push by Romney in Facebook "likes" was unable to close the gap, with the final count being nearly 3-to-1 in Obama's favor.  Mitt Romney can take pride in that analysts showed his smaller legion of fans to be more active in sharing content and liking his posts.

But as the President celebrates the title of "Most Popular Tweet in History", some of those same once-engaged Romney fans are abandoning their former Facebook friend.  Mitt Romney is seeing his social media stock rapidly sink.  A site called "Disappearing Romney" is tracking this trend real time -- updating how many fans his page has.

In the last 18 hours former Gov. Romney was losing nearly 1,000 supporters an hour, as each hour on average he was "unliked" by 982 former social media buddies.

The former Massachusetts governor's Facebook effort was marred in the days leading up to the elections by allegations that some of his "likes" were due to some kind of glitch (or according to conspiracy theorists "hacking") on Facebook.  A number of people complained that their accounts mysteriously "liked" Romney and could not be changed.

Of course take the President's social media cachet with a grain of salt.  Social media's most active members tend to skew to a younger demographic, and the younger demographic also tends to be remarkably consistent at being inconsistent in terms of voting and political fundraising.

In elections that are often decided by narrow margins in battleground states, one must wonder if a candidate who loses the social media battle by such a wide margin will be able to win in future elections, as social media's influence grows by the year.

Your graphic illustrates perfectly where the left gets its definition of reality...from Universities. Real people define their reality using common sense and first hand life experience. Soon the over educated idiots will get an education in real world hardship.

Who needs education and science when you have Jesus and guns, right?

People who disparage education won't listen to rational arguments, and they don't deserve anything more than trolling.

You're obviously so smart and superior that you don't realize that just because you can work amongst others with a HS diploma, it obviously must mean all HS graduates can do as well as college graduates. I'm sure you're first in line for promotions and management in front of all those people with advanced degrees.

Why yes i am since the current CEO also doesn't have a college degree. I don't go into management by choice because for me life is what happens outside of work; my education/work doesn't define who i am.

One example (I know there are more) is proof that it's true for everyone? derp. If you had gone to college you might have taken a course called 'Statistics 101.' Statistically speaking college graduates do earn more over their lifetime.

and i am example that no education is required. i am earning bazillion of dollars (and euros) while graduating from kondergarden only. therefore schools and universities should be closed, based on my sound evidence.

I can't believe I'm reading this comment and that it's gotten rated up.

You can't balance a checkbook on common sense. Common sense won't cure cancer. Common sense won't fix your car. Common sense won't get a satellite or rocket in space. Common sense doesn't qualify you to run a company or do many other things. You need to be an 'over educated idiot' to do those things. There are many 'real world hardships' that we need these so called 'over educated idiots' to overcome.

I hope I never go into a doctor's office and not see any accreditation whatsoever.
"my leg always hurts doctor!"
Looks like we need to amputate. If your leg is always hurting it would make common sense to just get rid of your hurting leg.

Yeah those damn universities clouding people's judgement from 'real world' experience...

Thanks for that laugh.

You don't need a degree to be smart enough and get the knowledge to do any of those things. You only need a degree because it's near impossible to even get considered for a job doing those things without one.

A buddy of mine did 23 years in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic on all sorts of aircraft. But he couldn't get a job as a technical writer at Boeing working on the 787 program because he doesn't have an engineering degree. Now you tell me, who's more qualified for that job. Him, who has years of experience working with engines and writing said manuals anyway at his previous job for the C-17, or a college graduate with a degree fresh out of school?

According to your Since the free market knows best, and Boeing is a private company, they either did the right thing, or made a big mistake which means your buddy should be snapped up by another company right away.

Because of the free market, they have to do what is necessary to whittle down the candidates. I didn't say it is a bad practice necessarily. It's just unfortunate for those who are highly skilled but don't have a degree. And how does him not getting a job at one place mean he'll instantly get a job elsewhere that would likely have the same requirement for the same type of job?

Not that your posts are exactly heavy on logic so I'll retract that question since it might confuse you.

OK. Valid point. But I would imagine he wasn't just thrown out on a hangar and told to use his common sense. I would bet he was heavily trained AKA EDUCATED on what he would be doing first.

Also please pretty please explain to me why the 4 republicans who drafted a bill that would help get vets re-certified (aka the jobs bill for vets or whatever it was called)for civilian jobs killed the bill just before the election. Was it just that they couldn't let something good happen on Obama's watch? Please explain that one to me. That bill would have put your buddy in a great position and would have eliminated the need for him to have any degree to get that job.

The House passed many such bills. The Senate refused to take any of them up.

for someone who was asking me to google things, all you have to do is google 'veterans jobs bill' and you will see headlines that read "Senate GOP blocks veterans jobs bill" numerous times. Still, you didn't answer me. WHY did the republicans, some of whom were in the senate, KILL the very bill THEY drafted??

No answer?? Right. It doesn't make any sense unless they killed it only so nothing good would have come from the Obama administration. That's really mature and shows you that NEITHER SIDE does what's best for America.

RE: Let's be honest

They killed it because just because something sounds all warm and fuzzy doesn't make it a good idea. It didn't do anything but potentially establish more never ending federal jobs. I feel for unemployed veterans but that doesn't mean we should just throw money in the wind and hope people catch it.

OK... then why did they create it to begin with?? They made this legislation only to decide it wasn't a good idea...

Pretty badly. Life expectancies were low, getting sick more often meant death and there were plague epidemics, people believed in silly superstition over science and killed millions over it, etc.

RE: Let's be honest

I would say we 'survived' but I would also say we didn't 'advance'.

RE: Let's be honest

Then along came Marx and Engels who preached only science and killed untold millions more.

LOL, tell me how many people did Marx and Engels kill? Millions you say?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

Religion is an antiquated concept that was required when science was at its infancy. Now science has progressed enough that most people don't need it. Science has been proven to work countless times over. Why don't you listen to the Hithens & Fry debate where they overwhelmingly proved that the Catholic church had a negative effect in human history, maybe you'll learn something.

Just because daddy and mommy told you there was a god and Jesus was his son every day ever since you were little kid doesn't mean they were right or knew what they were doing.

Is that all you've got? Really?

Your stroke is mere derision, and that is the sum total of your higher education. Shameful.

I pity you. Especially since you know you're right and you know what you're doing ... more so than all the skeptics. But isn't that laughable.
