Angry Birds Star Wars is now available for Android, iOS, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, and Windows 8

Angry Birds recently made its way into space, but now, it's taking that venture to a whole new level in the latest game, Angry Birds Star Wars.

Rovio Entertainment, maker of Angry Birds, and Lucasfilm Ltd., the film and production company responsible for "Star Wars," have partnered on a new Angry Birds game that sends the famous birds and pigs into the world's most famous epic space opera.

“It’s a banner day for us,” said Peter Vesterbacka, CMO of Rovio Entertainment. “This is our best Angry Birds game yet, and we’re excited for our fans to finally meet Luke, Leia, and the rest of the gang! But it’s more than just a game launch: we think fans are going to just love the new animated trailer and the Angry Birds Star Wars products, sure to be a big hit this holiday season.”

The game has over 80 levels in famous "Star Wars" locations like Tatooine as well as new areas like the Pig Star. The game follows a battle between the Rebel Birds and the evil Imperial Pigs, where the birds must face Pigtroopers and Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Pigs.

Gameplay includes use of the force and light sabers for a true "Star Wars" feel.

“We can’t wait for fans around the world to experience the fun of launching the Angry Birds characters into the 'Star Wars' universe,” said Colum Slevin, Vice President, Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd. “This is the kind of creative partnership that has helped Star Wars remain vibrant and beloved for over 35 years.”

Angry Birds Star Wars is now available for Android, iOS, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, and Windows 8.

It was recently announced that Disney bought Lucasfilm Ltd. for $4.05 billion USD from "Star Wars" creator George Lucas. The deal includes a new trilogy, consisting of Episodes VII, VIII and IX.

After "Nuke the Fridge", Lucas doesn't even exist to me anymore.

I can happily report that I never watched that movie. And never intend to.

Considering how well Disney has handled franchises like Marvel, I am very glad they're getting Lucasfilms under their belt. Maybe they can undo some of this ridiculousness. At worst, surely they can't make anything as bad as the Star Wars Christmas Special.

Go get "Hardware Wars"... waaayyy better than the Lucas Star Wars ep 1, 2,3

It's hard to find.. I looked awhile back for torrents, only could find some very poor copies (looked like someone used a camcorder to record the TV screen..yuck!"

Classic movie but best viewed by those in adolescent or less than sober moods.

An old school mom and pop VHS/DVD rental store still in business is the best bet for good copy of this movie.

He should write a book: "How to dilute your IP to irrelevancy", by George Lucas.

with a note on irrelevancy*

*irrelevancy means 4 billion dollars.

If he'd handled his IP right, Disney wouldn't be able to afford buying him up.

What effort of his in recent memory could be said to have been successful? The Clone Wars cartoons? Red Tails?

The clone wars cartoons have been very successful actually.

Lol, say what you will, but fans of a franchise telling its creator its IP is irrelevant while he has made insane money / profit from it and I'm sure he'll be happy to be irrelevant all day and night for you.

We're talking about future directions, and the ability to make new content that will be taken seriously, not the past.

Take IJ4 for instance, or even the SW prequels with their bad quality. If it weren't for Disney stepping in, there would not be the last three SW movies as there may now be, due to Lucas's misdirection once Spielberg left.

No one says those franchises don't have a lot of momentum behind them (ala the Expanded Universe for Star Wars), but that won't last forever, especially not if a creator abuses his work. Lucas is having to sell off his company for a reason.

I would definitely say everything after the first three episodes sucked. I'm just saying I think he's probably find with the way it all went when he looks at his bottom line.

Undoubtedly! I'm in complete agreement with you there. But that's why he's cashing out his chips now.

RE: This...
By MaulBall789 on 11/11/2012 11:39:23 AM , Rating: 3
No, he's cashing out now so that there wouldn't be some huge probate fight over the IP should he pass away. This way it's in Disney's hands and he doesn't have to worry about Star Wars tearing apart his kids and their families after he's gone. Probably did them a huge favor. Now they can just split the $4 billion.

That was made apparent after episode 1. I still can't figure out why he got all the credit in the first place. Clearly the force wasn't strong with this one.
