AT&T posts off-contract pricing for the Lumia 920
We reported yesterday that AT&T priced the Lumia 920 at $99 with a new, two-year contract. This is a shockingly low price tag for a bleeding edge, flagship smartphone from any manufacturer or carrier.
Microsoft is no doubt looking to improve its fortunes in the smartphone market, but it remains to be seen if the lowball pricing will be enough to jumpstart Windows Phone 8 sales.
With that being said, AT&T has also posted the off contract pricing for the Lumia 920. If you decide to forgo the two-year contract, you'll have to fork over $450 for the handset. Unfortunately, despite the fact that you don't have a contract attached to handset, it is still locked to AT&T's network. So don't even think about trying to run off to T-Mobile or another carrier.
Google's recently announced Nexus 4 is priced at $299 (8GB) and $349 (16GB) for an unlocked phone, without contract. The Nexus 4 generally outpaces the Lumia 920 in raw horsepower, but falls short when it comes to its 8MP camera and it commits a mortal sin by lacking LTE.
