Apple's new apology gets published

Apple wasn't happy at all about being forced by courts in the UK to issue a written apology to Samsung to be ran in major newspapers and on its own website. The apology had to state that Samsung did not copy Apple designs. Apple's "apology" was more the little tongue-in-cheek noting that the Samsung tablet was said to not be "as cool" as the iPad and Apple pointed out that it had won judgments against Samsung in Germany and the US.

The judge overseeing the case in the UK said that Apple's statements were "incorrect" and "untrue." Apple was directed to rewrite the apology and remove the incorrect original notice.

“I’m at a loss that a company such as Apple would do this,” said Judge Robin Jacob. “That is a plain breach of the order.”

The rewritten apology is now appearing in publications within the UK. Apple had told courts that it would take up to 14 days revise and publish a new statement, but one the judges in the case refused to believe the claim.

Exactly, I mean who are they to design a rounded rectangular phone. Apple clearly owns the rights to everything it, itself ripped off.

Apple was the first to put icons on a grid?
Apple was the first to have a touch screen?
Apple was the first to have "apps" on a phone?

...and the newly acquired...

Apple was the first to display maps on a touchscreen device?

Wow. Thank you Apple for inventing everything that had already been invented/implemented before hand. I must have had very vivid dreams of fictional companies like Palm, HTC, Microsoft, Garmin, TomTom, etc. I guess my creative side just runs wild sometimes ;)

I bet you're related to Tony.

I bet you're related to Tony.

Is this the ultimate insult or what!?

Can it be an insult when it's true?

I wouldn't even give him the benefit of being related. That would insinuate that Apple actually has more "fans" than it legitimately does.

My money is on this being another account that Tony runs. Only an admin could check the IP's to be sure...but I'd take that bet.

It's much easier to create a dozen "fake" fans of apple who are the work of one astroturfer--rather than find a dozen legitimately zealous apple fans who are passionate enough to do the same job for free. Kind of like how North Korea likes to hire Chinese to cheer for its soccer team--since the N. Koreans aren't allowed to attend the games.

Guess the "Kim Jong Il - Steve Jobs" personality cult thing wasn't the only comparison of Apple and North Korea. They also prefer a lockdown, draconian style of leadership to match the personality cult. That's at least 3 similarities I see.

Here are what Apple fans think are Samsung phones before and after the iPhone:

You can make anything seem true if you cherry-pick your data to deliberately exclude the cases which disprove your claim. Here's the reality:

Seriously I had not seen that before. I don't get how the jury could have found for Apple.

I now question the Californian justice system.

Wow you have no idea what you're talking about. A smartphone does not even have a unique shape it's rectangle! Sci-fi movies have used mockup "iPad" like screens for decades.
So under your logic there should only be 1 laptop manufacturer in the world? Or how about only 1 Tv manufacturer? Because they all infringe on earlier designes like Akai TV's from 1929? Or DuMont Labratories who were the US's first commercially manufacturered TV's back in 1938 so they clearly have a lock ok the square/rectangle screen? So all Tv's made today infringe on their designs? I'll argue that smartphones and tablets stole their designs from televisions.

Your login is flawed and you deserve your -1 rating.

The LG Prada (compare release dates) looked exactly like that before the iPhone. Although different software if you went to the Prada's app menu, it was lined up in grids similar to the iPhone does it.

Seriously?! Smartphones were on the verge of doing pure touchscreen. In fact a few prototypes were due out to market the same year but APPLE bought the market of them from the supplier. What they changed was the whole OS. An OS built for a phone that was not power hungry, was quick, and gave a fuller internet experience, the big key was getting people to build apps. Windows Mobile had apps everywhere but it was just not fast. It was a slow, clunky system shrunk down from the full Windows. Apple can be hailed for changing the mobile OS game, not the design of the smartphone. Go do some research.
