32GB version takes over the $249 spot
If you're in the market for a new Google Nexus 7 tablet, the rumored price cuts have been confirmed. Google has dropped the price of the 16GB version of the tablet to $199.
The 16GB version of the tablet was originally priced at $249, but the new
is now occupying that price point. It's unclear what will happen to the 8GB version of the tablet, but speculation suggests that it could see its price decreased to a low $99. However, even if Google were to be that generous, it would likely just maintain that price point until inventories of the 8GB model are cleared.
The official announcement for the new pricing of the Nexus 7 tablet was to have come today, but Google was forced to cancel its press event due to
. There have been other indications that there may be a
3G version of the tablet launching soon as well
So far, Google hasn't offered a new time for its official event.

RE: What Microsoft should be doing.

I was at a market meeting today and there were three panelists in the waiting room, ladies in there fifties with tablets; Nexus 7, Kindle fire and a Kindle Touch. I was surprised at the technology they were using for their "demographic." My little brothers wife, 31, knew what my Nexus 7 was when I pulled it out; she had seen it on the national news. It was fresh in her memory and I bought the tablet as a impulse buy the week they came out. This is my second tablet, I also have a 10" I bought last Christmas. After using the Nexus 7 for a few weeks I gave the old tablet away.
I think in order to dethrone the iPad, $200 is the right price point to do so. I did not even need a new one although for $200, I just wanted to see what the Nexus was all about. The Kindle and Nook suck because of the proprietary OS.
