Apple sold 27 million iPhones during the quarter, which was better than analyst estimates

Apple has been on a new product assault for the past few months. Things kicked off with the iPhone 5 launch in September and culminated this week with the announcement of a fourth generation iPad, the iPad mini, new iMacs, and a new 13" MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
Now, Apple has released its earnings for Q4 and the company recorded $36 billion versus analyst estimates of $35.80 billion. Net profit for the quarter came in at $8.2 billion. Earnings per share (EPS) rang in at $8.67 versus analyst estimates of $8.75 per share.
Numbers were up across the board compared to the same period last year when the company announced earnings, profit, and EPS of $28.3 billion, $6.6 billion, and $7.05 respectively.
During the quarter, the company sold 26.9 million iPhones (53 percent growth from a year ago), 14 million iPads (26 percent growth), and 4.9 million Macs (one percent growth). Apple’s iPod numbers continue their downward slide with quarterly sales of 5.3 million units (a 19 percent decline from a year ago).
“We’re very proud to end a fantastic fiscal year with record September quarter results,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We’re entering this holiday season with the best iPhone, iPad, Mac and iPod products ever, and we remain very confident in our new product pipeline.”

It's been a long squeeze for the last month. I've made about 10k on the side over the last 8 weeks selling call option spreads on AAPL, AMZN, QQQ, and EBAY. Its been going very well.

Today a small limit order on straight stock for AAPL at 600 went through for me after hours. If it hits the 200 period moving average then I'm buying more. The market is squeezing out weak longs that bought at the top, prices are getting good now.

Yeah, all things being equal, I would say mildly oversold.

But, the ipad mini price was disappointing and the overall market still looks a little crappy in the short run.

Still, decent risk to get in here. Full disclosure, I would sit still just a little longer and wait for more info.

Yeah, this is why I bought just a few shares at 600. I'm still hoping it tags the 200DMA. It is actually very close to that level on the 6 month and 1 year timeline. I expect it to be flattish for the rest of the quarter, but we'll see, I'm no mind reader. :)

Also note that I still have an overall dollar cost average of $135, even after selling quite a few shares at around $350. This is just dipping in for a little more cash before it makes its way back to $700+

Here is an interesting iPad Mini perspective from MobiHealthNews

Summary: the iPad Mini is the first iPad that can fit into the standard lab coat pocket. Those typically measure about 8.5 inches by 7.5 inches.

About one third of physicians that Epocrates polled leading up to Apple’s big announcement earlier this week said they planned to buy the device if it turned out to be a real product.

I think iPad Mini sales may surprise many, a bit like the original iPad did.

ipad mini sales will be driven by a more rational purchase though, not emotional one like when the ipad first introduced, as people now have alternative from Microsoft. The time for ipads to prove themselves worthy as tools in order to stay relevant

Wrong. iPad mini sales are all emotional and peer pressure. They all want the fruit logo on the backside, they don't particularly care if it's just an oven door masquerading as an iMac.
