Microsoft sent out its official Windows 8 press release today announcing that the new operating system will be available at 12:01 a.m. on October 26. Alongside the Windows 8 launch will be the grand opening of the Windows Store, where customers can purchase apps for the latest OS.

Windows RT will also be available at 12:01. For those who aren't up to speed, Windows RT is a variation of Windows 8 that is specifically meant for ARM-based tablets. It was built for apps in the new Windows Store, such as Microsoft Office 2013.
According to Microsoft, there are over 1,000

Change the UI in Windows 8

I use this utility for Windows 8. It's great, gives you more of a Windows 7 theme but you can still use the Metro UI also.

They should call the software "Fixed That For You: Putting the Windows back in Windows 8."

Yeah, great...and now Windows users have to start fixing the massive design flaws in MS products on their own in order to be able to use them. They're becoming as bad as Apple...except without the religion to support their idiocy.

I feel like people who think Windows 8 design decisions are design flaws are similar to the type of people who think Linux is better than Windows in every single way.
Not trying to judge you, but its just like honestly, its not that bad. Sorry its hurting you so much but I've been running it for months and other than bugs (cause you know, its pre-release) its been a joy. Often times I don't even leave the desktop.
Have you tried using it for any extended period of time? It's just not really THAT different feeling.
May I will change my mind as more 'Modern UI' apps appear and I spend more time in Metro, errr, modern ui land but as a whole, 90% of my time is spent in the desktop and in no way is my experience hampered at all.
And frankly, I'm known for being agitated for bad UI decisions so I think I'm a scrutinizing type.
