Customers can get these prices on any of the three models when they sign up for an Xbox Live Gold account for two years
Just in time for the holiday season, Microsoft is broadening its subsidized Xbox offer to two new models and possibly more stores.
According to a new report from
, Microsoft is adding two new models to its
subsidized Xbox offer
: a 250GB Xbox 350 for $99 and a 250GB Xbox 360 with Kinect for $149. These are in addition to the original option, which is a 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect for $99.
Customers can get these prices on any of the three models when they sign up for an Xbox Live Gold account for two years. The membership is $14.99 per month.
Microsoft originally offered the $99 4GB Xbox with Kinect at 16 Microsoft stores, but this could soon change as a new note on a holding page says, "check back later to see a full list of participating retailers."
Last week, three other
Xbox 360 holiday bundles
were announced. This included a 250GB Xbox 360 with "Skyrim" and "Forza 4 Essentials Edition" with one month of Xbox Live Gold for $299.99; 250GB Xbox 360 with Kinect, "Dance Central 2," "Kinect Sports," "Kinect Adventures," and one month of Xbox Live Gold for $399.99, and a 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect, "Kinect Disneyland Adventures," "Kinect Adventures" and one month of Xbox Live Gold for $299.99.

I have been in the PC industry for 25+ years. Here is my reason for using an Xbox 360: Its easy to use and play games on.
Granted, the graphics are not top of the line compared to the PC if you have the latest GPU, but it is stupid easy to play a game on and it still looks good on a TV. Also, I didn't have to pay $200-$500 for just the GPU in the PC to play with the best graphics. My whole Xbox cost less then most current GPUs. Plus you don't have to have Windows and drivers to update. You just drop a disc in the drive and play. You may have updates on Xbox Live for your games but it is all automatic. No configuring to do.

The biggest barrier to me (at least for the xBox) is that damn membership fee. $15/mo over 2 years, plus console cost of $100 is $460. $460 PC will get you a pretty sweet little game rig these days, and if you happen to already have a PC laying around to start from, then $460 in upgrades makes for a very nice experience. Plus with modern games, there is no disc to keep track of, or keep the kids from scratching up, just find the icon, and click, nice and simple. On top of that I cannot remember the last time I paid $60 for a single game. Between Steam's awesome sales, and that PC games drop in price faster than console games, you can get a ton more games over time for the same money.
Game PCs are not nearly as expensive as they use to be (unless you want to be on the bleeding edge... but that is hardly necessary to play games on high settings), and consoles combine a crap expierence, and terrible hardware, with high prices. Personally I don't get it, and I would like to see new hardware come out soon so that those of us who do have decent systems can take better advantage of the hardware we have.
