Backup drives will work with Windows computers as well
Seagate today announced two the Backup Plus for Mac and the Backup Plus Desktop for Mac external storage solutions. Now that Apple has finally jumped on the USB 3.0 bandwagon, Seagate has simply rebranded its existing Backup Plus range for Mac duty although there doesn’t appear to be much difference between the Mac and PC version of the products other than how they are formatted.
Both of the storage products are Time Machine compatible and feature Seagate Backup Plus software allowing users to back up various types of content, including content from social networks like Facebook. That means images or video uploaded to Facebook can be backed up locally so you won't lose memories in the event of an accidental deletion or computer crash.
The Seagate Backup Plus Portable drives are available in 500 GB ($109.99) and 1 TB ($129.99) capacities. The Backup Plus Desktop drives come in 2 TB and 3TB capacities for $129.99 and $179.99 respectively.
The Backup Plus for Mac is currently available for purchase on Amazon and will be available in Apple Stores in November.
