The new $129.99 USD bundle will be available through much of the U.S. starting October 28

Nintendo will be releasing a whole new Wii bundle in time for the holiday season, and it will only cost $129.99 USD.

The new bundle will feature a black Wii console along with matching black Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controllers. It will also include both "Wii Sports" and Wii Sports Resort" games on one disc. The sports games include a variety of options like bowling, tennis, baseball, basketball, etc.

"Nearly six years after it launched, people are still attracted to the pure, inclusive fun of the Wii console," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "A new suggested retail price and the inclusion of two great games make it an easy choice for families looking for a great value this holiday season."

The new $129.99 USD bundle will be available through much of the U.S. starting October 28.

The price slash comes nearly a month before Nintendo plans to release its new Wii U console, which is due out in the U.S. November 18. There will be a basic model for $299.99 and a premium model for $349.99. The new system offers features like 2GB of memory, 1080p graphics and a new Wii U GamePad controller.

No thanks, not getting stuck in Mario Land all over again.

The Wii was a nice concept but lacked the hardware to make it a reality. And the hardware limitations and Nintendo's practices assure that any big titles enjoyed by Xbox and PS3 owners, Wii buyers will be excluded from.

The WiiU is more of the same with slightly better graphics (but still way behind the times). Fun gameplay, as long as you don't mind being stuck in an ecosystem designed for 12 year old children. As fun as Mario Brothers and Mario Cart was back in the day, I'm in my 30's now and consoles need to do a bit more than rehash after rehash of the same kiddie content.

Yes, we adult gamers deserve something innovative and fresh like more over-the-shoulder 3rd person shooters with a chaingun wielding, armor optional, 300 lb muscle bound steroid chuggin' sack o meat blowing everything to hell. We need more soccer / baseball / football / racing games that comes out with a new edition every year with roster updates, 5 new decals, and more post processing shaders. </sarcasm>

:) i'm glad someone else gets it.

i never once found myself hating mario galaxy because i could "only" play it on 480p.

to those bemoaning the wii-u's graphics...pray tell, wtf can possibly tax the wii-u at the de-facto standard display resolution of 1080p? why create a system with 6-month old gpu technology that will force the system to cost >$500, when older GPU's can easily handle 1080p without breaking a sweat?

Did I say any of that? I don't recall saying that stuff.

Not sure why anyone pointing out the simple facts about the Wii faces such absurd vitriol. Come on, grow up.

Maybe you aren't a "gamer", but I am. And you'll never convince me a console that is virtually guaranteed to never receive major titles is a big deal. Sorry but it's not.

I'm more of a PC gamer anyway. But the Wii is just boring and immature, sorry. Mario rehashes are just NOT interesting anymore.

I meant nothing of the kind and I'm sorry you read it as such. It was simply a sarcastic way of pointing out that the "hardcore/adult" gamer market is just as rife with rehashes and non-innovation as the "kiddie" market and was in reference to your comment about "...rehash after rehash of the same kiddie content." The Xbox/PS3/PC are not in any better shape.

Feel-good everyone-wins nonsense like WoW isn't hardcore gaming.

The N64 was more powerful than the PS1, and the Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2. Neither had any record sales, but yet the Wii outsold its counterparts with much lesser hardware, so what again is your argument?
