Nokia Lumia 822  (Source: phonedog.com)
Verizon is slowly but surely acquiring new Windows Phones

Rumor has it that Verizon may sell the Nokia Lumia 822, and at a very affordable price: $49 on contract.

According to TechCrunch, Verizon will likely acquire the Nokia Lumia 822, but it will be stripped down compared to some premium AT&T phones running Windows 8. For instance, the Lumia 822 has a slightly different body style with rounded edges, and customers won't be able to change back covers to different colors.

However, the Lumia 822 will have 16GB of internal storage and 4G LTE connectivity through Verizon’s wireless network. It will also allow customers to send images and documents via Bluetooth, Outlook or tap2send.

All of this doesn't seem like a bad deal for only $49, especially considering the fact that Verizon could really use a good Windows Phone lineup for Windows 8. Many complained about the Nokia Lumia 920 -- which is the flagship phone for Windows 8 -- being AT&T-only. The Lumia 820 is an AT&T-only Windows Phone as well.

While the 822 isn't quite as feature-heavy as the Lumia 920 or the 820, it will hopefully lead to more Windows 8 devices being sold through the carrier.

Some people don't feel compelled to upgrade / renew contract every 2 years.

The worst thing a consumer can do for themselves is sign up for a multi year commitment. Bye bye leverage.
