Samsung says that this isn't an entry-level phone

Samsung has been incredibly successful with its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III. The company sold 20 million units in the first 100 days the smartphone was available.

Now, however, Samsung believes that there's a market in Europe for a version of that smartphone with a smaller screen. The Galaxy S III has a massive 4.8-inch screen and Samsung believes that a version of the phone with a four-inch screen would be popular in Europe to compete directly with the iPhone 5.

The head of Samsung's mobile business unit said recently that the company would launch a smaller version of the Galaxy S III in Europe on Thursday.

The device is expected to pack in a 800x480 resolution display, 1GHz STE U8420 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 5MP shooter on the back..

4" diagonal at 800x480: hold it 15 inches or more from your face and you've got a retina display (assuming 20/20 vision). Basically, this resolution is a non-issue for people who hold their phones at a usable distance.
