Samsung says that this isn't an entry-level phone

Samsung has been incredibly successful with its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III. The company sold 20 million units in the first 100 days the smartphone was available.
 
Now, however, Samsung believes that there's a market in Europe for a version of that smartphone with a smaller screen. The Galaxy S III has a massive 4.8-inch screen and Samsung believes that a version of the phone with a four-inch screen would be popular in Europe to compete directly with the iPhone 5.

The head of Samsung's mobile business unit said recently that the company would launch a smaller version of the Galaxy S III in Europe on Thursday.

The device is expected to pack in a 800x480 resolution display, 1GHz STE U8420 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 5MP shooter on the back..

I am SO glad that Samsung is such a smart company that they realize if there is market for big there is a market for small.
I would never buy a smart phone over 4.3" and android has been severely lacking in the normal size phone department.
But.... If only it wasn't budget hardware but I understand due to size constraints, heat issues, and a battery this size wouldn't adequately power a flagship android phone.
But thank goodness.

Ummmm...no, it hasn't, you obviously aren't looking hard enough, or you need your eyes checked.

And "normal" to you, is not "normal" to everyone....

Yes it has, only low to midrange android phones are coming "normal" size. Even this phone isn't high end but its a start if they can sell these at a steady pace we could see higher end Samsung androids out in the future.
And sorry but smaller phones are still normal over larger phones based i the number of phones sold in th history of the world and the majority of cell phones in the world still being below 3.5" screen sizes and yes I'm including feature phones. In the grand scheme of things a 4.8" phone is not normal and is much larger than the average for cell phones in the world right now.
