Samsung says that this isn't an entry-level phone

Samsung has been incredibly successful with its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III. The company sold 20 million units in the first 100 days the smartphone was available.
 
Now, however, Samsung believes that there's a market in Europe for a version of that smartphone with a smaller screen. The Galaxy S III has a massive 4.8-inch screen and Samsung believes that a version of the phone with a four-inch screen would be popular in Europe to compete directly with the iPhone 5.

The head of Samsung's mobile business unit said recently that the company would launch a smaller version of the Galaxy S III in Europe on Thursday.

The device is expected to pack in a 800x480 resolution display, 1GHz STE U8420 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 5MP shooter on the back..

The image is wrong, the "mini" will have a 4" screen, there's now way it will look so small next to the S3. Apart from that, the phones don't seem to have much in common beyond the name, yet the price for the mini is close to the price for the real deal.
Oh yes, you get the Timescape UI with both :-(

ACtually, I bet to differ. It may be slightly larger but not much.

I went from an Incredible (admittedly a 3.7, but close enough) and the entire phone fits inside of my screen area.

Try it out. You wouldn't think it would be that way but it definitely is. 3.7 -> 4 is very comparable.

Ugh no coffee yet, sorry for that mess...

I went from an Incredible (3.7 inch) to an S3. The Incredible when overlapped with my phone fits entirely in its screen area. I imagine the mini would be comparible

It is off. Eyeballing it is pretty obvious that the 2 pics are not 4 and 4.8 inch diagonally. Holding my GS3 up and zooming my screen so the GS3 above is 4.8 inches on my screen and using a ruler, the LCD's in the pics pics are 3.6 inches and 4.8 inches. Not a big deal, its just someones photochop, the mini will be 4 inches and slightly larger than the pic above indicates.

Yeah, it's really off. Take a look at this accurate comparison I made. Note: I didn't adjust the screen size at all to account for the small aspect ratio difference.
