AT&T Gets Nokia Lumia 920 as U.S. Exclusive, Plus Lumia 820

Cyan Lumia 920 is indeed in the works, along with other colors; Lumia 820 will only be available in black
AT&T, Inc. (
), America's second largest carrier, has re-upped
its commitment to Nokia
that for the fall it would be the only carrier in the U.S. to receive the company's top-of-the-line
Windows Phone 8
An official launch date was not announced other than "November" -- but
previous leaks point to
a Nov. 2 landing.
The Lumia 920 features a glove-friendly 4.5" WXGA (768x1280) curved glass capacitive multi-touch display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 32GB of storage, 2000 mAh battery, integrated NFC, and built-in wireless charging using the
Qi wireless standard
A teaser video hinted
that a Cyan Lumia 920 was incoming, and indeed the AT&T press release says the phone will be available in "red, white, black, yellow, and cyan".
AT&T announced that the second-rung Lumia 820 would also be coming to its network. But if you're in the mood for the Lumia 820, hopefully your favorite color is black, because that is the only color that handset will be carried in, for now.
Olivier Puech, president of Nokia Americas, cheered the pickup, stating, "We welcome AT&T's decision to offer the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, which, when added to what we've witnessed in other markets, underscores the momentum behind our Lumia devices and the broader Windows ecosystem. Our continued collaboration with AT&T is an important component for Nokia's success in the U.S. market."
Indeed, the partnership has proved mutually beneficial giving Nokia a hint of life and give AT&T
now that its period of exclusivity for the Apple, Inc. (
) iPhone is over. Sales of the
Cyan Lumia 900
, the Lumia 920's "Mango" OS predecessor
have been brisk
, with the handset
typically being out of stock
earlier this year.
However, the exclusivity agreement may draw ire from customers and investors alike, as it inherently limits sales of the handset in the U.S. at a time when Nokia
desperately needs to prove
its Windows Phones can hold their own with the iPhone and Android.

Verizon is defiantly the top dog but AT&T isn't bad.
AT&T isn't bad? They charged my aunt $51 on her land line for making a 9 minute phone call overseas. They jacked up my internet bill $10 a month without telling me anything about why. Then when I called them to complain, their manager was very rude to me and cancelled my internet service. My dad decided to try out AT&T's internet service. They started it up then 2 months later, they drop him without reason. He calls up and asks why. They told him it's because he owed them a "little" bit of money from years ago. He asked them why they didn't just add it to his next bill or at least send him a letter. They didn't need to cancel his service the way they did. They have really bad business practices and my family, friends and I will never use AT&T ever again!

Landline? Help them out man and get them on VOIP.
Overall Im sorry to hear that whenever Ive been with AT&T in the past its been a good experience. The only downside is when they decided to discontinue thier VOIP service and I had to sadly go back to Vonage for a little while. AT&T Voip as Rock Solid as SunRocket until they closed thier doors and took my phone number with them while I was job searching.
For the record Im on Ooma now. Once I got the upload/download settings right its been really solid. On a very rare occasion it will reboot - possibly firmware update on me when Im doing something online. But thats happened maybe 3 times in a year. It could also be Time Wonder Internet service messing with things.

Your experiences are definitely different than others.
I've never had any issues with AT&T billing or service or anything like that. LTE coverage is great and HSPA+ coverage is great in my area. Better signal in buildings and basements than Verizon any day here. I think its a shame that they don't offer unlimited data anymore, but the network and customer service has been flawless for me for 9+ years.
