Google Maps' Street View on Safari for iOS 6
As of now, most geographic areas in the U.S. and Canada are included in the Street View option
Many iOS 6 users have expressed their longing for Google Maps features since
Apple decided to release its own mapping service
for the new OS, and now, Street View has been made available via the Web app version.
IOS 6 and iPhone 5 users can now use Street View once again on Google Maps' Web app, which is accessible through Safari's built-in search function or the Google Maps homepage.
Through Safari, users can bring up the map for a satellite view of an area they've searched. In the bottom right-hand corner, a new stick figure icon shows up alongside other basic mapping tools, and by pressing this, the Street View option opens in a new window. According to reports, the panning and scrolling tools are intuitive, but there is no zoom.
Google Maps' Street View, which offers a 360-degree street level view of various cities, rolled out for many areas throughout the day. As of now, most geographic areas in the U.S. and Canada are included.
Last month, Google announced that it would
bring a Google Maps app to iOS 6
users in a couple of months while it works on a new version for the OS. Google Maps was the previous mapping service of choice for iOS users, but Apple dropped the bomb on Google this year when it announced plans of deploying its own mapping service in iOS 6.
Once iOS 6 was released in early September, users noticed many problems, such as geography that didn't match that of Earth's and a poor navigation system. Apple took a lot of heat, and
Google's Exeutive Chairman Eric Schmidt
even said that
Apple should've stayed with Google Maps

RE: YouTube as well

There is a YouTube app for iOS, and it works on iOS6. It's pretty much identical to the YouTube app for Android so far as I can tell. The only difference I've noticed is that on iPhone there's a full-screen button (so you can go full-screen without disabling rotation lock), which is better than on my Galaxy Note where it seems the only way to go full-screen is to disable rotation lock and have it decide based on the phone's orientation. Oddly enough, on my Nexus 7 it's as good as on the iPhone.
