New remote has a big touchscreen in the middle

Logitech's line of Harmony universal remote controls are some of the most popular universal remotes out there. The Harmony line is notable for being easy to program rather than having to type in long numerical codes for devices. Logitech has announced a new addition to its Harmony line of universal remote controls, and this is the first new remote to be launched in the series in a long time.
The remote is called the Logitech Harmony Touch and adds an interesting touchscreen to the middle of the remote that looks quite similar to the Harmony One's screen. The main difference in looks between the new Harmony Touch and the Harmony One is the placement of the Touch's 2.4-inch color display.
That color display is designed to show users various buttons and icons. One of the more interesting uses for the screen is to show icons for your favorite channels allowing you to go to those channels with a single tap. The remote control also supports the activities macros that the Harmony line is famous for.
The Activities macros allow you to set up single button presses that will change inputs and turn on specific components for different things such as playing video games or watching movies. All the buttons on the remote control are backlit to make them easy to find and use in the dark. The remote can also be used to initiate Skype video phone calls if your TV is equipped with the Logitech TV Cam HD.

The Logitech Harmony Touch will ship this month at a retail price of $249.99.

Another expensive Harmony remote whose LCD screen I can easily crack by (slightly) stepping/sitting on it. This could become my third broken Harmony in a YEAR! And it looks like I could even break this one in half...

If you broke 3 in a year.. Maybe its time to accept its YOUR fault and not Logitech's.

Yep, I hate to agree. Sometimes you can do with the basic necessities. I have had mine for the past 2 1/2 years and all had to do was change the batteries.

I have also trained my cats to never step on my Harmony One as a result.

... or you could just stop buying Harmony remotes. Seems simpler than training a cat, no?

The cats are a distraction. As originally stated he likes to step and sit on them. Stepping is bad for electronics m'kay. As for sitting, get a softer couch. I sit and lie on mine for hours and never crack it.

Well like I said, I've only broken two so far so, as per your logic, it's STILL Logitech's fault. Thanks, I really needed that.

Agreed... I havent read the product specs or user manual, but I am pretty sure you are supposed to use your fingers to manipulate it, and not step on it.

I have sat on mine, the dog has, fallen off the couch, been dropped and have now problems after 2 years. You must be extremely hard on the remotes to break so many.

Mine (harmony one) has also been through a war. Other than a new battery it is still going strong with no issues.

Complaining that something breaks when you step or sit on it is fucking stupid.

Yea not sure what you are doing, but I've had 2 harmony remotes, going back about 4-5 years, and no cracked lcd's.
The first one had a button wear out, the 2nd is going strong after 3 years.

I've had other Harmony remotes before too, 700 and a couple of 880's and never had any cracked screen issues (even after stepping on them by mistake a few times ) until I bought the Harmony One(s).

I have had a Harmony remote for around 7 years and the only problem is some of the buttons are dying. But with the programmable screen, I can work around that. You must be REALLY hard on remotes.

I just use the remote that was included with my onkyo receiver. I can control my tv, blu ray, and cable box. It even has programmable activity buttons just like the harmony and it didnt cost 249. lol
think about the things you can buy for 249. xbox, ps3, tablet, even a tv, but they want 249 for the remote to the tv. this is absurd
