Plenty of time for reviews

With Trinity desktop APUs having been available to OEMs for months, hardware reviewers should have had no problem running tests long before today.

All the reviews that I have read seem to agree that the Trinity desktop APU is a nice step forward and an excellent low cost desktop solution. Dollar for dollar AMD is offering good choices for mainstream consumers.

Vishera will continue that trend and should be here in just a couple weeks.

It's nice to see AMD headed in the right direction and gaining momentum.

I can't see any reason to buy this cpu line when you consider the cost of the case,mb,memory, hdd and the added performance that an i5 would give you for just $100 more.

For casual users the extra 2 cores of the i5 go to waste. They don't use much CPU horsepower. Trinity looks pretty good for casual computer shoppers.

For an enthusiast Trinity makes no sense at all except in your wife's computer. In fact, the whole i3 line also makes little sense considering a quad core is 2 large pizzas away.

For many people, especially in these economically tough times a $100 more is a big deal. In addition unless all you do is run benchmarks all day long, spending $100 more on an i5 may net you nothing of value at all - depending on what you use your PC for. That's why it's nice to have many options to meet all consumer needs.

The price of the case, mobo, RAM, etc. is going to be similar in price to those for an i3/i5 and in some cases actually cheaper with the AMD hardware over Intel.

The bottom line is buy what makes you happy - if you have the $$$. Most people will be perfectly happy with the Trinity APUs because it's all they need. If you need more and have the cash, then buy an i5 if that's what makes you happy.

It's worth noting that the FM2 mobo socket design is fixed for the next several years so all the updated AMD APUs will plug right in unlike Intel that changes sockets all the time, thus requiring a new mobo at the minimum.

If you were to actually read the reviews you would see that Trinity actually outperforms Core i5 in anything that uses the gpu portion of the APU. Before you completely discount trinity you need to ask how the potential buyer will be using it. For anyone planning on multimedia and light to moderate gaming, trinity is a better choice. Like stated most people won't see any benefit of a core i5 over core i3.
