According to the White House, no data was accessed or stolen from classified networks
The White House announced that it had been the victim of a
, but the hackers didn't get away with any valuable information.
According to a report from
, the attack was geared toward a White House Military Office computer system. However, the White House said that the attack was isolated and that it affected an "unclassified network," so no data was stolen.
It was confirmed that the hackers were from China, and that the method for the attack was "spear phishing." This means that the hackers sent an email that contained links or download attachments that were labeled with important tags or phrases to lure in the reader. However, once they click on the links or download the attachment, malware is released into the computer system.
Just last month, it was announced that the White House is working with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and others to create an executive order to
counter cyber security threats
. However, many argue that an executive order isn't good enough -- they say cyber security legislation is necessary because it can offer greater consequences for hackers, give the DHS funding for cyber security workers, etc.

The opinion of the US has dropped significantly in what used to be some of our biggest supporters, Poland and Czech Republic, due to Obama throwing them under the missile defense bus after both countries had to push hard for years to get on board. Obama also gave a cold shoulder to Poland in order to "reset" relations with Russia, which ultimately paid no dividends. Eastern Europe in general wouldn't know what you're talking about.
I also saw a collections of articles from papers across the spectrum from Europe about a week ago, including most all the big left-wing ones, pointing out how Obama's foreign policy has basically failed utterly. They disagreed some on why, but at least they were intellectually honest enough to acknowledge facts on the ground.
The sense I got, based on polls and just occasionally reading summaries of the media, is that Europe's been disenchanted overall with him, Eastern Europe bitterly disappointed. Can see how some Western European leftists might like him; he's weak and committed to unsustainable spending like they are.

Any sources for those articles, polls, and papers from Europe? Or is this just your confirmation bias running wild?
