SBB is reportedly looking to make a deal with Apple, where the railway company will likely seek a licensing fee
They say "what goes around, comes around" -- and it looks like Apple is finally getting a dose of its own medicine in the patent infringement department.
A railway company in Switzerland, called Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), has accused Apple of copying its clock design for iOS 6. SBB said its company created that clock design back in 1944, and that Apple's new iOS 6 clock app is identical. See for yourself:

"We are proud that this icon of clock design is being used by a globally successful company," said Reto Kormann, SBB spokesperson. "We've approached Apple and told them that the rights for this clock belong to us."

in eight countries today.
SBB's move against Apple comes at an interesting time. After a 1+ year-long battle with Samsung over smartphone/tablet patent infringement lawsuits around the globe, a U.S. jury
found Samsung guilty of copying the iPhone/iPad
for its Galaxy line. Not only was Samsung ordered to pay $1.05 billion USD in damages, but a court date on December 6 may lead to more product bans for the South Korean electronics maker. Apple is also looking to
boost that $1.05 billion fine to $3 billion

Eh, not really a big deal

The SSB clock was clearly the inspiration for the Apple app design. Apple's designers likely didn't realize there was a trademark & copyright on it, else they would have used something else. I know I wouldn't have expected the design of clocks on trains to be protected, and I doubt many of you will disagree. (Unless of course you're disagreeing just to be disagreeable, which I don't put past people.)
Either way it's a simple fix: the IP holder has done their job in asserting their copyright. Apple needs to respond in kind and agree to some reasonable licensing in order to continue to use it, or they need to cease and desist its use.
Not a big deal, and certainly not Apple v Samsung v Motorola v The World material.

It is a big deal!
It clearly demonstrates that Apple is still copying while trying to claim they are sitting on the high horse. For sure some Apple prick saw the clock and then copied it.
Also just for your information - railway companies are protecting their designs and have done so for decades if not more. It's one of the original international cut throat businesses and also on that from early on came up with corporation wide design guides.
