SBB is reportedly looking to make a deal with Apple, where the railway company will likely seek a licensing fee

They say "what goes around, comes around" -- and it looks like Apple is finally getting a dose of its own medicine in the patent infringement department.

A railway company in Switzerland, called Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), has accused Apple of copying its clock design for iOS 6. SBB said its company created that clock design back in 1944, and that Apple's new iOS 6 clock app is identical. See for yourself:

"We are proud that this icon of clock design is being used by a globally successful company," said Reto Kormann, SBB spokesperson. "We've approached Apple and told them that the rights for this clock belong to us."

SBB is reportedly looking to make a deal with Apple, where the railway company will likely seek a licensing fee.

Apple just released iOS 6 two days ago, and also launched its iPhone 5 in eight countries today.

SBB's move against Apple comes at an interesting time. After a 1+ year-long battle with Samsung over smartphone/tablet patent infringement lawsuits around the globe, a U.S. jury found Samsung guilty of copying the iPhone/iPad for its Galaxy line. Not only was Samsung ordered to pay $1.05 billion USD in damages, but a court date on December 6 may lead to more product bans for the South Korean electronics maker. Apple is also looking to boost that $1.05 billion fine to $3 billion.

Tony Swash... I'm sorry to inform you of this but...

I have never owned an Apple product and never will... Best part is! NOTHING you can do about it!

/end rubbing salt in wounds.

Uh OK. I'm probably never going to buy an Android phone, and there's nothing you can do about that. I say "probably" because I wouldn't hesitate to buy an Android if it can offer better features than an iPhone, but that hasn't happened yet (at least not when my contract ends and I'm in my buying window).

One thing I like about the iPhone is the Jailbreak process. It's easy and it works. I tried upgrading my Wife's Android and it was a pain in the ass, and too buggy, so I had to revert back to Froyo. Spent a lot of time on it. My iPhone Jailbroke in 5 minutes.

Not that you will understand or get this, but this is why so many people don't like the iPhone, Apple, or it's customers.

"The first person in line at Apple's flagship store in New York City is Hazem Sayed... He has spent well over a week sitting in front of the Apple Store on 5th Avenue and he does not regret a moment."

This person wasted a whole week out front of a store (likely wearing diapers and holding a backpack of food) for a PHONE. It's pathetic. And there are so many people like him that buy iPhones. This is what happens "in the real world." Ain't that a bitch.

At least with that link you finally admit that the whole crApple thing is a cult. Or at least other fanatics do with their appropriate domain name. I especially love how it is perfectly OK for you to post your pathetic bs but once others say anything negative towards your beloved crApple, you jump in and say how irrelevant, meaningless, and fan boyish it is. You have the 2nd highest powered crApple RDF (reality distortion field) only after your dead fake messiah. You should really seek help.

In reality of course it's not the fact that some people queue for the iPhone it's that thousands do, it's the gigantic popularity of the iPhone and Apple products in general that grates with you, that gets under your skin.

Not even close Mr. iFanboi. You are talking out of your ass again.

In fact, all of those morons that have nothing better to do for days or weeks just to get a phone get under my skin. Why can't these people wait for a few days/weeks after release of something to get it - and not have to camp out in front of a store like a homeless person? Think about it. They could stroll in 2 weeks after the release and walk right in and buy one, no waiting required. I don't care if it's the new 'Twilight' movie, the new iPhone, hell it could be the release of a new Android phone and it would still be pathetic!

There's also an amazing double-standard here. Nearly all of those iDiots would call 'Black Friday' campers INSANE for doing what they do if you asked them - yet they see nothing wrong with what they did for a phone. But sure, you can continue to believe whatever you like. I can't force you to be correct about things.

quote:
What's sadder the man camping for days to get the iPhone or the man who sits at home and gets angry about it?
Neither. It's the moron that defends those 'campers' on a web thread.

Who said I was upset? AH you did. Who said I was agitated? You, again. You also said something you linked would 'push up my blood pressure.' Which it did not. You are 0/3 in truth but 3/3 in speaking outta your ass.

All I said is that they were pathetic. Pathetic like the way a drug addict seeks their next fix. Pathetic. And they are. And so are you.

So Tony,

What does any part of your post have to do with whether Apple improperly copied a trademarked design or not?

Answer: Nothing at all!

You should at least *try* to be relevant. People here might take you at least 1% seriously if you were. As it is, most people are justified in dismissing anything you say.

What he means is Apple is successful and he likes that so much that he doesn't care if they steal stuff from other people.

Ie. he doesn't care how Apple succeed, only that they do.

Who cares if they steal? They're getting away with it! Go Apple!

Um- what does this have to do with the fact that the Apple copies its designs?

But since you're going off topic:
http://www.mercurynews.com/news/ci_21526515/worldw...

Yes, reality is a bitch.

My only curiosity- why do drop tests matter when most users purchase cheap protective covers for the phone to keep them pristine anyway? I dropped my G2 on asphalt when I first purchased it (should've bought the protective case sooner) and it suffered about the same amount of damage that the iPhone 5 did.

My point: if Galaxy S III owners wanted to step down to a smaller screen with a sturdier build, they could buy a G2 and still have a phone that does more than the iPhone 5 ;)

There is 4.7%, 4.7% of the population that will buy an Apple product no matter what, no matter what. They are dependent on yearly release cycles, on what they are told they like, if they see another phone they feel they are victims of copyright infringement. They feel they are entitled innovation, beautiful design, feature sets, to everything. I'll never convince them they are behind in NFC and wireless charging technology. But, it's not my job to worry about their lackluster phones, I'll never convince them to #switchtolumia.
