What video iPod fans have been lusting for, it's just not from Apple
Speculations that Apple will release a video-focused iPod have been circulating online for quite some time now. Hope for Apple users increased when
reports of a prototype video iPod appeared
on the Internet. Later however, it was deemed that the prototype was fake, and was actually not even an Apple product. Apple has yet to announce any details of a portable video player.
Now, a company in China called
Meizu, has now launched its own iPod-like portable video player
. Called the Mini Player, the device is similar in size to current generation iPods, but includes a much bigger screen and allows for playback of XviD video files. Of course, the Mini Player also handles all popular audio formats as well as image formats. Some specifications include:
Display: 2.4-inch 260K color QVGA (320x240) TFT LCD, 100 brightness levels
Memory: 1GB, 2GB and 4GB versions available
Audio support: MP3, WMA, OGG and WAV
Video support: XviD
USB 2.0 interface
Other hardware features: Integrated FM tuner, voice recording capabilities
Other software features: E-Book support, clock, calculator, games
The most interesting part of the Mini Player is the fact that it looks very much like Apple's current products. The back of the Mini Player is a chrome shell, similar to current iPods, and the front controls are flush with the body. Meizu also claims that the Mini Player can last up to 20 hours when playing back music and last up to 6 hours when playing back video -- impressive performance compared to Apple's own 5th generation iPod. Equally impressive is the fact that the Mini Player is merely 10mm thick. The new Mini Player will also be available in two color schemes: white/silver and black/silver.
Pricing was not available at the time of this report.

Looks sleek and 6 hrs playback is nice.
Only if it has a high production value!

Looks cool but how much will it cost because i am only ready to spend $300 on a video player like with 4GB capacity. Anything higher will not be worth it.
