Samsung hits comedy gold... again

Samsung knows a good thing when it sees it. The company struck gold with its TV commercials mocking iPhone users late last year. The commercials depicted rabid Apple fans that wait in long lines to snap up the latest iteration of the iPhone.
 
Over the weekend, Samsung upped the ante with a print ad that directly went after Apple's new iPhone 5.
 
And now, Samsung is ready for a second round of "Apple Mockery" TV advertising. If the first commercials were amusing to you, this one is sure to tickle your funny bone as well. 

Here are some choice quotes:

"They're saying this phone is going to be like a precious jewel"
"All I'm saying is they should have a priority line for people that have waited 5 times"

Samsung knew if its advertisement focuses just on its product the way Apple does its commercials, people won't buy it as they'd realize that it is useless hence Samsung resort to juvenile bantering. Typical of fandroid attitude. If you can't win insult the other guy.

I'd rather people think me a hipster than a looser.

As I posted to another Apple head...

Apple bashed on PC a few years back in TV Ads....

Apple did the same tactic with its Mac V PC ads.....

Strange, I find the performance when doing more than one thing at a time to be better on the Galaxy S3 than on the iPhone. The S3 also has shown a LOT of functionality in advertising, while the iPhone ads show people doing the same crap they were three years ago.

Actually, if you actually watch the video, it does two things:

1. it MOCKS image and marketing - specifically Apple's. All of the slogans regarding the iPhone are mocked and dismissed as baseless and substanceless.

2. it showcases technology and performance in use. NFC transfers, big screen, 4G that has been around, etc.

Apple's iDevice ads are about image. "Retina Display" isn't about anything specific. Heck, there are at least four different Retina display specs, so what does it MEAN? Nothing, really. It USED to mean over 320dpi, but that had to be redefined down to what, 316 or something? And now that high density displays are more commonplace, the term is still used but not defined.

The iDevice ads are about "beautiful" - what objectively does that mean? I only know of one item that is almost (and still it's only "almost") universally called beautiful and that's the Jag E-type.

It's truly ironic how selective iDevice fans are when they are forced to look at reality.

Importance of resolution is partly the product of viewing distance. A 1080p HDTV has MUCH lower pixel density than a 22" 1080p monitor that is sitting on your desktop, but its fine because you are viewing it from eight feet away instead of two feet away. Both appear apparently the same from their practical viewing distances.

The same logic applies to something like a phone or a tablet. A phone is being held closer to your face than a tablet, hence the need for higher DPI. "Retina" is a marketing term for when you cannot discern pixels from one another, that's all. It is why a phone has higher pixel density than a tablet, which has higher pixel density than a newer 15" rMBP. Viewing distance is an integral part of the equation.

I expect more knowledge from people on a supposed "techie" site. I'm pretty surprised looking at all the responses here.

And as to your first point, it looks more like they're intent on trying to manufacture fanatical fans in the most transparent way possible.

Based on the responses I see here it is working really well, the Android sheep are gobbling it all up.
