The Optimus G the first quad-core smartphone with 4G LTE capabilities
LG's Optimus G
is nearing its release in Korea, but the smartphone maker also announced that the latest addition to its gadget family will come to the U.S. in November.
The LG Optimus G, which was originally announced in August, is an Android-based smartphone that serves as LG's flagship device with a unique user experience called "UX." In other words, it's LG's answer to its recent smartphone woes. The Seoul-based electronics company has reported losses of approximately $895 million over the last two years together.
LG is hoping the Optimus G is a hit, considering its the first quad-core smartphone with 4G LTE capabilities. The phone also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, a 4.7-inch display, a 1280x768 resolution, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 32 GB of memory, 2 GB of RAM, a 1.3 MP front-facing camera and the choice of a 13.0 or 8.0 MP rear-facing camera.
So what's with the UX user experience? According to LG, customers will be able to use a QSlide function that shows two different screens on one display (ie, customers can send a text message while watching a video); QuickMemo, which allows users to jot notes or draw on the screen with their finger; Live Zooming, for the zooming of streaming videos, and
Dual Screen/Dual Play
, which lets users view content on the Optimus G and a TV wirelessly.
"The Optimus G is a groundbreaking premium device not only in the history of LG, but also in the smartphone industry," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Electronics. "With the Optimus G, users will be able to experience unsurpassed UX features that will allow them to perform tasks that really enhance their daily lives."
The LG Optimus G will be released in South Korea next week, but U.S. customers will have to wait until November.

LG's had quad core phones for awhile now. I can't remember when they first released it, but it was at least 2 years ago.

Unfortunately we can't buy a GS3 Quad Core in the United States, and if we import one, we're limited to AT&T.
