No Photoshop for you!

If you're one of the folks is still running Windows XP but still likes to keep up-to-date with the latest version of Photoshop, Adobe has drawn a line in the sand. Adobe has announced that Photoshop CS6 will be the last major version of Photoshop that will offer support for the Windows XP operating system. 
 
Adobe says that all subsequent Photoshop feature updates, specifically for Creative Club members, offer no support for Windows XP. Adobe says that advances available on newer operating systems and hardware will allow it to leverage the operating system to deliver better performance and focus innovation efforts around areas beneficial to its customers.
 
Adobe says that Photoshop CS6 has already demonstrated that relying on modern operating systems, graphics cards, and graphics drivers can provide substantial improvements in certain tools such as 3-D, Blur Gallery, and Lighting Effect features. These improvements are not available to Windows XP users.
 
Adobe says that customers using Windows XP right now need to begin making migration plans to take advantage of future Photoshop innovations.

Finally! Another thing to force lazy admins stuck in their ways to finally learn how to deploy/manage Win7+ on large networks (not that XP is easier -- quite the opposite).

Now, if only we could find a way to force point of sale manufacturers and medical equipment manufacturers to make the switch finally. It's scary enough that a machine handling my credit card info seems to negate the need for security; but with my father in the hospital on a respirator, noticing it running win xp and communicating on standard wireless.. rather damn frightening.

Seriously, it's been over 5 years since XP should have started phasing out.. Reasons for running XP..? Definitely not performance, definitely not security, definitely not for ease-of-use. If anything, outdated hardware, no real need to change (in the case of your 60 year old mom's pc -- who wants to show her how to use something new after you finally went 2 weeks without a call), or just sheer laziness.

XP and 7 should be same as far as deployment goes.
we are not talking about that are we?
If you don't know how to secure XP then you don't know much.
never had a virus with updated Antivirus app.

performance wise 7 is not better then XP.
for ease of use/practicality/logically laid out, XP is king.
they got rid of outlook express which was great for multiple accounts and added an new windows explorer which is inferior to the old one on XP.
then the wanna be like apple GUI which fails.
XP can run great on the latest hardware so I don't know what you are talking about. run it using an SSD and it flies.
