iPhone 5 becomes the fastest selling iPhone ever

It will come as no surprise that Apple’s iPhone 5 has proven to be insanely successful only a few days after it was officially announced. AT&T has announced that the iPhone 5 set a sales record over the weekend making it the fastest selling iPhone AT&T has ever offered.
AT&T reports that customers ordered more iPhones from AT&T than any previous model both on its first day of pre-orders and over the weekend. And although AT&T didn't divulge actual sales numbers, Apple was happy to oblige. The boys from Cupertino announced that over 2 million iPhone 5 smartphones were sold within the first 24 hours of availability -- twice the performance of last year's iPhone 4S.

“iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do.”

The iPhone 5 is still available for pre-order on the AT&T network right now and is the only version of the device capable of simultaneous voice and data.
While Apple and its carriers are likely celebrating over the big sales numbers, Samsung is already looking to knock the iPhone 5 down a peg or two with new print advertising.

You clearly missed the part where the iPhone 5 beats all other phones on the market in benchmarks? Or are you too busy spouting FUD and crazed rhetoric to notice? I shifted my Galaxy 3 to get one because contrary to what you children believe, most people don't spend the time rooting and reflashing their phones, staring at weather widgets on their lock screens or using their phones as USB sticks. I frankly missed the simplicity of the iPhone and am about as technical a user as they come.

iPhone still leads in usability and integration and in terms of quality apps by a large margin as anyone honest with an android device will tell you. As you said yourself "people...just want a smartphone that works" which does not mark them out as stupid or naive. You lot on the other hand I could not say the same for. If you want people to think better of Android users, stop being condescending, smug and superior fanboys.

Geekbench Scores, where both phones win 2 of 4 main tests, and also should be taken into judgement, the geekbench android platform has too many spurious anomalies on the Android side to be taken as a one to one benchmark of iOS/Android performance .....

iPhone 5:

I think that FUD and crazed rhetoric is getting the better of you.

Posting links to unconfirmed reports, as Anand clearly stated is not helping matters, we should wait for the confirmed benchmarks, like they really mean anything anyway.

It really says a lot to a persons motives when they're on both sites defending their product, sit back and chill and enjoy your choice, this nonsense doesn't do anything but muddy he waters even further.
