The Wii U will be available in two different models: a Basic Set and a Deluxe version.

Nintendo announced price, launch and system details concerning its new Wii U console today -- and U.S./Japan residents will soon be able to get their hands on it.

Nintendo fans can expect two different Wii U models: a Deluxe version and a Basic Set version. The Basic Set features 8 GB HDD, a Wii U Pad controller and it in comes in white. The Deluxe model, on the other hand, offers 32 GB HDD, a Wii U Pad controller, power cradles for the Wii U Pad, an HDMI cable and it comes in black.

Some extras that Nintendo fans can look forward to include a separate controller called the Wii U Pro, which resembles an Xbox 360 controller; 25 GB game discs; Wii U's social network Mii Universe, and the system itself is backwards compatible with the original Wii console.

The launch titles for Wii U are "Nintendoland" and the "New Super Mario Bros."

Looking to pick up a Basic Set? It'll cost you $299.99. Or, if you're looking to go all out with the Deluxe model, Nintendo will hit your wallet for $349.99.

Wii U will hit the U.S. on November 18 while those in Japan will have to wait until December 8.

You can only have 2 connected anyway; it's meant for asymmetric gaming it seems.

For most games this is the controller you need: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/03/wii-u-pro-contro...

Or the Wiimote+Nunchuk combo it seems.

A new one of the controllers with the screen is going to cost $170.
