The Wii U will be available in two different models: a Basic Set and a Deluxe version.

Nintendo announced price, launch and system details concerning its new Wii U console today -- and U.S./Japan residents will soon be able to get their hands on it.

Nintendo fans can expect two different Wii U models: a Deluxe version and a Basic Set version. The Basic Set features 8 GB HDD, a Wii U Pad controller and it in comes in white. The Deluxe model, on the other hand, offers 32 GB HDD, a Wii U Pad controller, power cradles for the Wii U Pad, an HDMI cable and it comes in black.

Some extras that Nintendo fans can look forward to include a separate controller called the Wii U Pro, which resembles an Xbox 360 controller; 25 GB game discs; Wii U's social network Mii Universe, and the system itself is backwards compatible with the original Wii console.

The launch titles for Wii U are "Nintendoland" and the "New Super Mario Bros."

Looking to pick up a Basic Set? It'll cost you $299.99. Or, if you're looking to go all out with the Deluxe model, Nintendo will hit your wallet for $349.99.

Wii U will hit the U.S. on November 18 while those in Japan will have to wait until December 8.

Come again? How is that unfortunate?

Haha. Really poor wording. Unfortunate for Nintendo because that is about the maximum I was willing to pay for the wii. I would be willing to pay maybe $200 for the wii U but not $300+

It's just a matter of time for you, then. You're just a "I won't buy it at launch" person. That means if and when you do buy it cheap, there'll also be a slew of games for you, also for cheap.

Go you. Patience has its rewards.
