Armstrong died following complications from heart surgery
There isn't a tech geek alive that doesn't know the name Neil Armstrong. And because of this, there are many heavy hearts around the world today not only from tech geeks like those that read
, but from all of mankind.
We learned this afternoon that Armstrong, the first man to step foot on the moon, died at 2:45 pm today as a result of complications from heart surgery he underwent several weeks ago. He was 82.
Armstrong, along with Apollo 11 lunar module pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, became the first men to touchdown on the surface of the moon on July 20, 1969. However, it was Armstrong that was the first to make his way down the lunar module ladder to step on the lunar surface and utter those famous words:
That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind
The Armstrong family issued this statement following the death of a true American hero:
While we mourn the loss of a very good man, we also celebrate his remarkable life and hope that it serves as an example to young people around the world to work hard to make their dreams come true, to be willing to explore and push the limits, and to selflessly serve a cause greater than themselves.
For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request: Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.
You will be missed!

Ah, I guess that clarifies what he said, so it wasn't strictly what I had seen quoted. But, still he seems to think that the new kids on the block aren't ready. I just can't agree with that.
SpaceX, has been able to launch space craft safely at a lower cost, then any other space launch company in the world. It is about using modern technologies, instead of holding on to ancient systems.
I despise that NASA gave more money to Boeing then to SpaceX, even though Boeing hasn't gotten anything in on time or budget in decades. That seems more about the old boys network then any real expectation that Boeing will be able to deliver anything into space at anything resembling a reasonable cost.

First Michael Jackson dies.
Now Neil Armstrong dies.
Wow.. God really doesn't like Moonwalkers.
