Apple will help city improve its water supply
Apple is one of the largest technology companies in the world and runs a number of large data centers for its cloud storage services. Apple has offered some hints at its plans for a large data center in the city of Prineville, Oregon.
The plans showed two buildings with over 500,000 square feet that are described as "data halls." According to reports, there was no indication of when Apple would start construction on the facilities.
"They [Apple] really didn't say how long they are looking at," Prineville senior planner Joshua Smith said.
When asked for official comment, Apple spokesperson Kristin Huguet reiterated a previous statement saying Apple would be "hiring dozens of people and bringing hundreds of construction jobs to the area."
Apple has already begun construction on a smaller 10,000 square foot facility on the land purchased in Prineville this past February. The Prineville area also counts Facebook as a resident with facilities across the road from Apple's location. One key aspect that is luring large technology firms to the area is the inexpensive cost of electricity.
