Not having a Facebook account makes it seem like you have something to hide
The decision to use Facebook or not has always seemed like a choice, but what if
not having an account
made you seem suspicious to the rest of the world?
article pointed out that while most non-Facebook users stay away for reasons like internet addiction, privacy issues or just because they couldn't care less what people are eating every second of the day, others who are on the social network could view this absence as suspicious.
For instance, employers are looking to social networks more and more as a way of learning about current and potential employees. When a worker doesn't have a Facebook, some employers may think that this is a red flag, meaning the person could have deactivated it because they had something to hide.
The suspicion bleeds over to other sectors of our lives too, such as our love lives. The article mentioned that new love interests who don't have a Facebook could be hiding their true identity, or could be hiding another relationship that they don't want to make public.
article also makes quite the leap to implicate the lack of a Facebook account with mass murderers by pointing out that Anders Breivik and James Holmes didn't have a social media presence at all.
While Facebook started out as just a fun way to connect with friends and family, it has become increasingly ubiquitous, making it a hard habit to quit. Now, it seems as if this is being taken a step further, where those on the outside could be shunned.

Would Forbes mind telling us how many criminals have an account? It was not so long ago that we had notifications to be careful online, and not speak to strangers...
I think it is a simple matter of vested interests in the plight of Facebook, which if memory serves me right, is tanking worse than a Titanic on Wall Street. Add to that places like Facebook are playground(s) of big brother, and you have more reasons to make a push for it.
I have nothing to hide, not to people who know me. If you don't know me, let us keep it that way, unless we meet in real life... I totally agree with one who says employers shouldn't have much of a stay in my personal life, as long as i'm keeping it on straight and narrow.
There's also the matter of them making unsolicited posts to your friends, recommending products and services. Chances are you never recommended anything, and this happened to me. A few of my friends got some messages, recommending software and some services. I do this for my friends in real life, so this irked me, as it could ruin my standing amongst friends. I thought it was some hacker possibly, who gained access to my account, but i learned later that FB does it.
Did i say, it is a severe waste of time? I would much rather call/ meet people... Also, what's wrong with an email? I guess it has its place under the sun, but this is getting out of hands.

I don't think you would call it tanking. They over valued the stock when they went public.
