Details of 2013 console and 2014 augmented reality glasses trickle out

Want to know secret details about Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) upcoming Xbox 720?  Too bad, says Microsoft.

A small army of lawyers at Covington & Burling LLP, among the international law firms whom Microsoft employs, have taken to the internet waging war against a documents leak which hit the web over the weekend.  Takedown notices are flying, removing copies of the document on DropBox, Scribd, and more., a Czech tech news site also received a notice.  Microsoft's lawyers write:

Microsoft has received information that the domain listed above, which appears to be on servers under your control, is offering unlicensed copies of, or is engaged in other unauthorized activities relating to copyrighted works published by Microsoft.

1. Identification of copyrighted works:

Copyrighted work(s):
IEB Roadmap

Copyright owner: ?
Microsoft Corporation

2. Copyright infringing material or activity found at the following location(s):

Google Inc. (GOOG) claims Microsoft is one of the most legally active companies in terms of takedown notices, requesting that 448,236 URLs be killed this month alone.  Some of those are due to its efforts to stomp out piracy and botnet hosting.  But others come from more questionable applications, such as trying to silence leaks.

The leaked Xbox 720 slides describe Kinect 2 and the "Fortaleza project" a Google-glasses like effort that could bring augmented reality to the Xbox 720 as early as 2014.  Here are a few of the verboeten slides:

and only a 6x increase in performance? Ah well, it's not too bad I guess. Looks to be fully backwards compatible, 1080p 3D, with Blu-Ray. So that checks most of the boxes.

So long as it has a decent modern video card that can support high res textures I am happy. So tired of looking at blurry walls on PS3 and Xbox 360. Its definitely both consoles weakest point.

It will be 9-10 years since the Xbox 360 launched when this system arrives, I think they could have packed more than 6x the performance considering how far GPU's have come since then.
Hopefully they don't hold it back with a tiny amount of Ram... Bigger worlds and better textures please!

If it’s as picky about video and audio formats and network streaming as the current xbox it’s going to be a fail in my eyes. Blu-Ray support will be nice, but will I be allowed to play those over the network? I bet not, and that’s a shame. I’d buy one for every room in the house if I could.

If you have one in every room of the house, why do you want to stream over the network? Wouldn't you be able to just...put the disc in?

and only a 6x increase in performance?

Yesterday, I gave my son a penny. Today I gave him a dollar. That's a 100x increase!!!!

Yesterday, I gave my daughter $5. Today I gave her $10. That's only a 2x increase!!!!

According to your logic, my daughter should be disappointed since she only got a 2x increase.

I'm very disturbed how Microsoft seems to have abandoned gaming though.

Huh?? Splain your nutbaggery, good sir.
