Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse  (Source: slashgear.com)
Logitech didn't mention a price or release date at this time

Logitech is releasing a massively multiplayer online (MMO) mouse that looks more like a keyboard with its wide array of buttons.

The new mouse is called the Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse, and it offers 20 programmable buttons total. Twelve of these are thumb buttons laid out in two groups of six on the thumb panel. There is also a G-Shift button that can double the number of actions the gamer performs.

In addition, the Logitech G600 has three default profiles. Two are for MMOs while the other is for general gaming.

Logitech didn't mention a price or release date for the new mouse, but once available, users have a choice between a black version and a white version.

It's about time Logitech got back into the "gaming mouse" ring because this Razer Naga would be twice as good if Logitech made it. The quality isn't there, nor is the ergonomics. And you can't even customize the weight!

My only problem with the Naga was it was too short. I've had a G5 and now a G500 for YEARS and being able to rest my hand on it is rather habit forming. The Naga barely goes past my fingers.

Exactly. On the Naga I basically have two fingers that just sorta float off to the side unsupported because there's nowhere to put them. There's also too many buttons. The thumb is NOT a precision instrument. Six buttons twice as large would be so much better than 12 tiny ones.

i've always fond logitech's more business-oriented mice to be much better gaming mice than the so-called gaming mice, which often look and feel like medieval torture devices, are of shoddy quality, and cost much more than the ten bucks they're worth because some pimpleface put his signature on it.

my old one (an MX1000) served me well in FPS and RTS and everything in between for 5 years, and its replacement (A performance MX) is doing quite well so far. shame that they cost so mych, but a good mouse is worth a lot when you compare it to all the frustrations you could have with a crap mouse. or a gaming mouse.

The MX1000 was a great mouse but for gaming, horrible. Heavy with slow responsive buttons, no adjustable dpi or polling rate. It was regulated to only non-gaming activity after I got a 518 then G7 then G9 and now G700.

I'm using a MX1000 right now, actually with my left hand...wierd eh?

the MX1000 is waaayyy too laggy for FPS and heavy.
DPI is adjustable however...little button below the scroll wheel.

I own the MX1000, the Performance MX, the G9x Gaming mouse and the G700 Gaming Mouse. Neither the MX1000 or the Performance MX can hold a card to the two gaming mice. The productivity mice have less customization and their wireless technology still exhibits some lag (although the Performance MX is very hard to detect). They have less programmable features and a much lower range of resolution choices. They are also heavier. The MX1000 does not track as well as the other three mice either. I'm not sure why you state the gaming mice feel like medieval torture devices. The MX1000, Performance MX and G700 all retain the same basic ergonomics form. Only the G9x varies greatly. And despite it's appearance, it's actually quite comfortable. I'm unsure why you state there is a major quality difference between their productivity line and gaming line. I've disassembled both the Performance MX and G700 and they retain the same basic materials and general components. They fastened together in the same manner also. Their exterior surfaces exhibit differences, especially in the material that conveys tactile sensory feedback. So preferring one over the other based on how it feels in a subjective manner could drive the illusion of one being of quality and the other not, but it's purely synthetic in actual application. Currently I use the Performance MX for productivity, and it's excellent at filling that role. However, it's very ill-suited for gaming. For gaming I use the G700 as it excels in that arena by a large factor over any Logitech productivity mouse.

After failed DiNovo Edge after Edge, I think Logitech has completely lost the concept of quality. I used to love their stuff and lately it's just crap. A $200 bluetooth keyboard shouldn't have connectivity issues 10 feet away.

You've clearly never called their customer support when you had issues. They're one of the few companies that uses customer service as a marketing opportunity:

"Logitech G7, out of warranty w/ failing batteries? I'm sorry, but replacement batteries aren't available for purchase from our store. We'll send you a brand-new G7 instead. No, you don't have to send us your old one. Also, I hear you can find the batteries on eBay in case you have a friend who would use the old mouse."

"You say your dog ate your wireless mouse/kb USB receiver, and it no longer works? That's definitely not under warranty, but we'll send you a replacement right away. No, you don't have to pay for it."

^^^My experiences with their support, and I'll exclusively buy their products as long as they remain awesome in this area.

Personally I think logitech reclaimed "gaming" devices with new batch of the g400. Practically the best sensor available next to the 3888, no angle snapping and the classic mx5 shape.

Corsair M90 beats both imo, their mmo mouse is light years ahead.

The button layout on that mouse is less than optimal to say the least. The software lacking.

Yeah, it looks bad, but I've never used it. On newegg it has some seriously low ratings.

Why no love for the trackballs?

No, really, when can I get a trackball that has more than left/right buttons and a scroll wheel?

Megan: Ugh, why are guys so obsessed with breasts? They're just mounds of fat.

Gary: I don't know I just want 'em. Like an animal instinct.

Joel: Yeah, like how women love balls.

Megan: Um, women don't love balls.

Darius: They all about that dong, son. They want the corn not the onions.

The Logitech Track-man Marble FX was the best gaming quality trackball I ever used. I did good damage with it at many lan parties in the early 2000s with my 4 before they all broke down from overuse and unwise lending to friends.

They sell for over $150 used right now and if Logitech remade it would probably sell well. It only had 4 buttons but the ball was large and under the fingers which meant you had as much control or more then a mouse.

Logitech in the comments section mentioned that it's coming out in July for Canada, assuming US would be around the same time or sooner, and it'll sell for $79.99.

My MX 518 is still doing strong. Doens't look as good as it used to but it still works just fine even without logitech bloatware software installed but a new mouse with more buttons is looking more appealing

Why Naga way?
By gladiatorua on 6/16/2012 10:57:32 AM , Rating: 2
Of all possible button layouts they went with retarded Naga's num-pad... WHY?
Currently one of the best button layouts belongs to MadCatz Cyborg M.M.O.7. 12 buttons under the thumb. DISTINCT buttons. Big scroll-wheel. And it's usable outside games.
Why stupid num-pad?
