Acer is ready to get official with the Iconia Tab A700, which was previously shown at CES 2012. The tablet has a 10-inch screen, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
 
One of the more interesting features of the tablet is that the 10-inch screen has full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200. Acer promises that the battery is good for 10.5 hours of video playback and that the tablet should will high-quality sound with Dolby Mobile 3 and support for 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound via HDMI out.

 
"Consumers have embraced their tablets as a mobile hub for their daily lives, and the full HD display on the Acer A700 will give customers a fresh new perspective on the apps, games and digital media they enjoy," said Paul Tayar, director of product marketing for connected devices, Acer America. "Customers looking for a no-compromise tablet will get the features and performance they want in the new Acer A700."
 
The Iconia Tab A700 also has expandable storage thanks to a microSD card slot and it also has a micro-USB port. As of today, the tablet is up for pre-order in the United States and Canada with a 32 GB version of the tablet selling for $449.99.

I agree. I am surprised so many people are buying tablets at $500... But they are. Seems like a nice $250-$300 toy at 10 inches.

I am sure once these high res android 4 options flood the market and low cost sub $200 7 inchers as well prices will drop pretty fast.

When it comes down to it, some people just have the money. Most people don't so the value math presented above is correct for most people. However, there are tens of millions of people who already have all of those higher value products listed above so the tablet then becomes practical if you've also got the cash for it.

I see what you mean... But I have cash and I am a total gadget whore, believe me. I still cant see getting a tablet at $500 ever. I would say the new iPad is probably the best thing available, but I wouldn't pay more than $250-$300 max for it myself. I got an HP touchpad at $150 after the firesale from an ebay resale. It's great for the price.

I'd pay the $450 for those features and I'm not a gadget whore at all but in all honesty, I'm looking for a 7" with those features.

I was in the same mind set as you.
So I went and got a convertible netbook/tablet, real keyboard and OS can't be beat.
The touch screen/tablet mode has it's advantages but so does a laptop form factor.
Needless to say if you are a consumer of content... A tablet is fine, if you create allot of content, you need a real keyboard and OS.
