Trade-in credit can be used for a new tablet and GameStop locations

GameStop has announced that it is now heavily into the Android tablet business. The company has put Android tablets on sale in more than 1,600 of its locations around the country. The move is no surprise considering how many people are now gaming on smartphones and tablets.

GameStop has added tablets such as the Acer Iconia Tab A200, the Asus TF300T, and the Toshiba Excite 10. The company is also offering refurbished iPads.

GameStop says buyers who purchase their tablet from its locations will get valuable extras including a handpicked selection of free video games. Those video games will include titles such as Sonic CD and Riptide. GameStop will also offer the Kongregate Arcade gaming app and a free issue of Game Informer Digital.

Another nice bit of news is that buyers can use credit earned from trading in old video games and hardware towards the purchase of the new Android tablet. If you're in the market for an Android tablet right now, GameStop is offering the Acer Iconia Tab A200 for $299.99 until June 2. The Asus TF300T will sell for $399.99 with the Toshiba Excite 10 selling for $449.99.

Other tablets offered include the Asus Transformer Prime for $499, the Transformer starting at $349, and the Samsung Galaxy starting at $399. Refurbished iPads start as low as $299. GameStop also offers a Bluetooth controller accessory for tablets.

About a year ago we had heard reports that GameStop would be building its own Android tablet for gaming, but that of course never happened.
