Core webOS features could creep into Android
When Hewlett-Packard Comp.'s (
) bold and ultimately doomed
, many assumed that was the end. But it turns out that webOS had more fans than it seemed and many a blog was written bemoaning the loss of innovative features like "swipe to dismiss" multitasking tiles. WebOS even briefly managed to
seize second place in tablet sales
, thanks to enthusiasm surrounding the
TouchPad clearance sale
But HP has committed to open sourcing webOS and stepping out of the mobile market for now, so those who stuck it out

), makers of the world's most used smartphone operating system, Android, according

It is unclear if the departures are tied in anyway to HP's layoffs. HP recently announced a gloomy outlook for fiscal Q3 2012 and
committed to laying off 27,000 workers
-- 8 percent of its workforce -- in a

"crapdroid rules now? really?"
Yes, really. It is fast, stable, beautiful, compatible, and very elegantly done... And most important, it's
. That is a big deal and not easy to do (as no other mobile OS has been able to accomplish that). It is the highest selling mobile OS for a reason you know. You love calling it "crapdroid" in every post for whatever Jr. High reason, but its still the biggest, the best and the most compatible thing out.
