is now offering U.S. customers a video and high-speed Internet services bundle through new partnerships with satellite broadband providers.
DIRECTV has partnered with satellite broadband providers ViaSat and Hughes to offer a new video/Internet bundle called the Exede. Exede was created by ViaSat and Hughes' HughesNet Gen4
Exede will offer speeds of over 10 Mbps as well as special offers that haven't been detailed yet. Customers can also take advantage of triple-play bundles with AT&T, Verizon, and Century Link, which are already available. This means bundled pricing for customers living anywhere in the U.S.
"We look forward to offering every single DIRECTV customer access to fast, affordable broadband options through DIRECTV, no matter where they live," said Oswin Eleonora, senior vice president of Emerging Markets for DIRECTV. "With greatly improved capacity and speeds, satellite broadband services provided by ViaSat and Hughes will fully support our customers' connected home experience, enabling them to access a host of features like YouTube, Pandora, social TV apps, and more than 7,000 VOD titles."
DIRECTV said the service mainly aimed to provide bundle services to those living in rural areas, but will be available to anyone living in the U.S.

If only AT&T had a 12Mbps package, I would be on it already.
Im really tired of been stuck at 6Mbps for the past three years.
Cable is not an option in my area for some dumb reason. 1 block away from Collins (FL) avenue and I cant get cable internet. How retarded...

I have 1.5Mbps with AT&T and I wish I could get more. I just got it a couple years ago, before that it was all dialup where I live. I am probably within a few yards of being at the limit from the DSLAM to get what I am getting and I live only 5 miles from a town of 18k people. My parents live 20 miles from the nearest town of about 2k people and they just got 2Mbps DSL from their phone company(Brandenburg Telephone Company, a small independent telcom that has been in that area since even before AT&T was in the rural areas). If some small company can push DSL out that far, why can't AT&T? This is a place that nearly every time it rains the power goes out because all utilities lines are run miles through the woods up and down hills where the crews can hardly get to them. AT&T charges twice as much for phone and internet and still can't provide good coverage of high speed internet even in easy to get to places.
We definitely need more small service oriented companies in the telcom business instead of bloated stock holder oriented ones.
