The bundle is expected to launch as early as next week
Microsoft will soon release a $99 Xbox 360 bundle that includes the console and a monthly Xbox Live subscription.
The new bundle consists of a 4GB Xbox 360 console, a Kinect sensor, and a two-year Xbox Live Gold service subscription.
The only catch is that there's a $15 monthly fee for the service. Gamers can receive the regular online gameplay features of an Xbox Live Gold subscription along with extra content from cable providers.
The total cost of the two-year bundle is $459, which is a bit of a hike from the current $418 4GB Xbox 360 and Kinect bundle with two years of Xbox Live Gold.
Microsoft will charge an early termination fee to those who decide to cut the service before the two years are up. The exact amount of the fee is unclear at this point.
Microsoft is looking to change the way people consume entertainment via its Xbox 360 console and Xbox Live services. With the tech giant working on a music service called Woodstock, and with video services becoming increasingly popular, creating a bundle that provides such content via its Xbox hardware seemed like a smart way to boost Xbox sales and attract customers to its latest services. Customers will just have to decide whether the extra $15 monthly cost is worth it.
The bundle is expected to launch as early as next week.
