ASUS announced that it is
rebranding its tablets
"Transformer Pads," which brings us to the company's news of a high-end tablet line: the new Transformer Pad Infinity series.
At Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, ASUS revealed the Transformer Pad lineup, which includes the Transformer Pad Prime (previously the Eee Pad
), the upcoming Transformer Pad Infinity series and the Transformer Pad 300 series. In addition, ASUS announced its new PadFone smartphone/tablet hybrid.
Let's start with the tablets. ASUS' high-end Infinity series features two different models, which both offer 1920x1200 Full HD Super IPS+ display as well as ASUS SonicMaster technology, a 2-megapixel front camera and 8-megapixel rear camera. However, the Wi-Fi model features a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor while the 4G LTE model offers a Qualcomm MSM 8960 Snapdragon S4 Krait dual-core 1.5GHz processor. Storage options will be 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB.
The low-end Transformer Pad 300 series offers a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 10.1-inch 1280x800 IPS display, a 1.2-megapixel front camera, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 10-hour battery life (which can be boosted to 15 hours with the keyboard dock sold separately). There is a 4G LTE version or Wi-Fi version.
ASUS also showed off its smartphone/tablet hybrid, the ASUS PadFone. This new 4.3-inch entry to the smartphone market features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, a Super AMOLEDqHD display and an 8-megapixel camera. Like ASUS' tablets, the PadFone also comes with an optional keyboard dock that both charges the battery and turns the phone into a 10.1-inch tablet. The PadFone utilizes ASUS' Dynamic Display technology for easy transition the PadFone and PadFone Station display screens.
All Transformer Pads and the PadFone are expected to run on Google's Android 4.0 mobile operating system right out of the box. This looks like a good deal for ASUS, considering Google announced that
850,000 new Android devices are activated on a daily basis
"The time has finally arrived when every screen in your lives could transcend into a portal with real time access into your digital world," said Jonney Shih, ASUS chairman, when showing off the PadFone.

GPS/Wifi Issues on the Prime

I was really excited about the Transformer Prime but heard/read about some of them having GPS/Wifi issues so I decided to wait until they came out with a Prime that resolved that issue and now the Infinity is coming out lol. Maybe I'll just wait until Christmas before buying a new tablet.
