Have you actually seen the 800 screen ? It's gorgeous.

Every smartphone has a "gorgeous" screen though. Screens aren't even a selling point anymore because maybe 1% of the population can notice a difference in screen quality from phone to phone, and even less than 1% could tell you the difference between Retina, SAMOLED SAMOLED+, SLCD etc etc.

Not really. I went from a T-Mobile Comet to a Samsung Focus and the Focus's screen was far prettier than the Comet. Even my wife, who cares little for such things, was quite impressed. So much so that she bought a Focus of her own. Now, compared to an iPhone 4, it might be harder to see the difference.

Then again, I might be part of that small group that notices these things, and that might stem from years of being a tech guy, so you still might have a point.

I disagree. While I may know the technical basics of screen difference, it didn't take a technical knowledge to observe that the display on my DroidX looked better than my DroidX2.

Resolution is better, but I could definitely see the PenTile problem without any foreknowledge. I wouldn't call it "gorgeous".

World of difference between my Eris to Incredible, and an even greater difference between the Incredible and the Rezound... you take multiple phones and actually view them, they're almost all noticeably different from each other.

The Droid 4 and Bionic, to me, looked as if they had a slight screen door effect to them compared to the Droid Razr and MAXX. The AMOLED on the Galaxy Nexus and Razr had a slight blue tint on white screens at certain angles. The Incredible, Incredible 2 and Rezound were great to look at but had problems with battery life and less brightness with the Rezound.

In terms of resolution, I only noticed the low res when viewing web pages with text or certain photos.
