It's been ~30 years since Usenet and BBSes showed up, and nearly 20 years since the first web forums were made. You would think someone would've come up with a script which searches for the previous post from a user, compares it to the newly submitted post, and if it's identical rejects it for being a dupe.

Hey! Maybe I should patent that. =p

Most of the forums I'm on will do exactly that. It will block posts in quick succession (for both user double click error and spam bots) and will also block identical posts from a user to the same forum for X period of time.

DailyTech is the only quasi forum I use that doesn't use the same vBulletin software everyone else does :(

Craigslist prevents dupes.

My request is still for a e-mail when someone responds to certain posts.
