The untether is only for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4 - CDMA, the first iPad, iPod touch 3G, and iPod touch 4G with iOS 5.0.1
Chronic Dev Team member and jailbreaker Pod2g has released an untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak for iOS users with non-A5 gadgets.
The untether was created by Pod2g and given to both the Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team. It was then placed into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool by the iPhone Dev Team, and placed into a Cydia package by the Chronic Dev Team.
The untether is only for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4 - CDMA, the first iPad, iPod touch 3G, and iPod touch 4G with iOS 5.0.1.
Once you've updated to 5.0.1, run redsn0w 0.9.10 over your current jailbreak or install the Cydia package. According to the iPhone Dev Team, both patches are the same. The team also advises that users do not install this untether if you're using a 5.0/5.0.1 hybrid. Install on 5.0.1 only.
This untether excludes the iPad 2 iPhone 4S.
"Pod2g is now looking for a way to extend this to A5 devices," said the iPhone Dev Team blog. "Because those devices cannot use geohot’s limera1n exploit to inject the untether, they require exploits above and beyond those used for this release."
