Commercial shows Apple fans camped out for the iPhone 4S, marveling at the Samsung Galaxy S II

The past year's events have made it pretty clear that Apple and Samsung aren't the best of friends. Apple initially accused Samsung of copying Apple's iPhone and iPad designs when developing the Galaxy line, and a long list of lawsuits have been launched back and forth ever since around the globe.

Apple may have successfully killed Samsung's sales in some countries outside the U.S., but Samsung isn't going to take this lying down. In its latest commercial for the Galaxy S ll, Samsung makes fun of Apple fanboys by portraying a scene where they're all waiting in line hours in advance for the next release. While waiting, the fanboys are noticing passerby with phones that are "magnificent," and of course the phones in question are Galaxy S ll's.

The fanboys make pompous comments while waiting in line, such as "If it looks the same, how will people know I upgraded?" and an exchange between two fanboys that goes as follows:

Fanboy 1: I could never get a Samsung, I'm creative.

Fanboy 2: Dude you're a barista.

This is actually incorrect. The specs/hardware on the iPhone 4S are actually quite impressive. Take a look at anand's review: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4971/apple-iphone-4s...

The GPU in particular seems quite impressive.

Though it won't last long. Competing Android phones will quickly take over in performance as usual as there's a much larger pool of competing hardware manufacturers to pick from. I imagine the first phone with a Tegra 3 in it will supercede any advantage the iPhone4S currently has.

Preliminary Tegra 3 GPU benchmarks put it below either of the A5 devices. It is much better than the Tegra 2, but the Tegra 2 was a joke.

Other SoCs may need to do their part to exceed the A5 in CPU or GPU performance, because right now it doesn't seem like it will come from NVIDIA's mobile parts. Perhaps license a GPU from PowerVR, I dunno.

Almost countless Android phones have superior CPU's in them already and some phones have had them for 9+ months. The CPU will benefit more people than a GPU anyway - not everyone plays games.
The 4S is just a dualcore ARM Cortex A9 CPU design. Tons of other Android have this same CPU and are clocked higher. Performance is simply not as much better as it should be due to the fact that current Android phones run a OS thats a year+ old. ICS will fix that and benchmarks already show it's a big improvement.

Samsung have also now licensed the SGX 543MP2 GPU found in the iFad 2 / 4S.

Great, ICS means that it can "kind of" catch up to iOS, there are still hard hardware limitation on Android handsets given their GPUs. Android handsets leaping over in performance is inevitable though, but the timing window will be pretty poor given that the A6 will be out in the Spring.

I'm surprised that Android hardware has lagged so much given that they have the opportunity to update hardware much more frequently than Apple does. Really weird. I wonder when this will pay off.

And you're right that nobody really plays games on Android, who in their right mind buys one for that? You need developers for games.
