Dashboard update inbound

If you are a big fan of the Xbox 360 console, Microsoft’s Major Nelson reports that the next Xbox 360 Dashboard update is set to land on December 6.

The new update will include personal and social features with new cloud storage for game saves and LIVE Profile details. Other new items that are coming in the update include Beacons and Facebook sharing. The update brings enhanced family settings and there will be integrated voice and gesture controls in dashboard and apps. This is perfect for the Kinect users out there.

The Bing voice search will be integrated and available in the U.S., UK, and Canada. Major Nelson also reports that new content will be coming during the holiday months. Among the new apps will be custom apps for TV, movies, internet video, sports, and music.

Cloud saves

Cool... but the profile recovery feature is already so slow and cumbersome, I don't think I want to slow it down further by trying to sync saves and other content. Obviously I'll reserve my final opinion until I try it, but for now a memory card/USB drive still seems like the best way to transport saves, profile, and content.

This is also going to be the YouTube update, right?
