Dashboard update inbound

If you are a big fan of the Xbox 360 console, Microsoft’s Major Nelson reports that the next Xbox 360 Dashboard update is set to land on December 6.

The new update will include personal and social features with new cloud storage for game saves and LIVE Profile details. Other new items that are coming in the update include Beacons and Facebook sharing. The update brings enhanced family settings and there will be integrated voice and gesture controls in dashboard and apps. This is perfect for the Kinect users out there.

The Bing voice search will be integrated and available in the U.S., UK, and Canada. Major Nelson also reports that new content will be coming during the holiday months. Among the new apps will be custom apps for TV, movies, internet video, sports, and music.

... and no shortage of inexpensive ways to buy 12-month cards from Amazon and other e-tailers. I don't think I've spent more than $35/yr for Live since 2004.

Probably not, they do release a new update like this every year. It's one of the biggest pluses of having a 360, the regular OS updates.

Yup, and they are usually download fairly quickly. I think I've had longer downloads on COD DLC's.

I am really looking forward to this update.

Microsoft should have unified all these UI's a long time ago. Better late than never. Microsoft has really been on it's game lately. Windows Phone is even great. They are just going to have to ride that one out, like they did the first Xbox.
