There has been a lot of tablet-related talk going on these days with Amazon's new tablet, Kindle Fire, due to hit the market November 15. But it looks like the Kindle Fire has an

, which managed to get its hands on some important documents, Barnes & Noble will launch its first Nook Tablet on November 16.
The Nook Tablet is almost exactly like the Nook Color with a few changes. According to the documents, the Nook Tablet will have a 7-inch VividView IPS color touchpanel with 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GB of RAM, a 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP 4 processor, 16GB of inbuilt storage, about eight hours of battery life with the Wi-Fi off, a microSD expansion slot, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, support for plenty of file formats (PDF, ePUB, XLS, DOC, PPT, TXT, DOCM, Flash, JPG, MP3, MP4 and AAC), and dimensions of 8.1- x 5- x 0.48-inches.
The cost for the new Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet will be $249, which is $50 more than the
. However, the Nook Tablet does have twice the RAM, twice the storage, and access to over two million books, newspapers and magazines. Kindle Fire has "thousands" of books, newspapers and magazines.
Barnes & Noble will offer the Nook Tablet for pre-order on November 7, and in-store demonstrations will take place on November 15.

RE: Android Market

The Nook Color was the easiest device to root I've ever used. Not only does it have a microSD slot,
it boots off of it by default
. So "rooting" the device involves writing a rooted NC Android mod image to your microSD card, sticking it in the Nook Color, and rebooting. That's it. Technically it wasn't even rooting since the original OS is still there (boot to it by removing the microSD card).
If they retain this feature in the Nook Tablet, it will sell well among the Android mod community. My main questions are if they addressed some of the problems with the original NC. Video hardware acceleration only up to 848x480 resolution not 720p, limited multitouch (can only track 2 simultaneous touches), lack of buttons (badly needs to be able to run Honeycomb or ICS, not Froyo or Gingerbread which assume 4 hardware buttons). The faster processor and bump to dual core addresses the biggest issue though.
