A trailer for the new game will be released on the site Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Rockstar Games has officially announced the next segment of its GTA series: "Grand Theft Auto V."

Rockstar Games' website doesn't offer any details, such as release date, platforms, or which Rockstar Games studio will make the game. It simply shows the new logo.

However, a trailer for the new game will be released on the site Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

According to VG247, "Grand Theft Auto V's" location is to be set in Hollywood, and a 2012 release seems likely. More specifically, a holiday 2012 release may be in the works. VG247 also predicts that the game will be made in the Rockstar North studio in Edinburgh.

"Grand Theft Auto," which is a game that allows players to take on the role of individuals rising in the ranks of organized crime by completing different missions such as motor vehicle theft, was originally released in October 1997. "Grand Theft Auto 2" launched in 1999, "Grand Theft Auto lll" was released in 2001, and "Grand Theft Auto lV" launched in 2008. In between many of these releases were others, such as "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" and "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."

There's a difference between being poor and the elitist, PC snob that I am. ;) (okay, I admit, I enjoy oldschool console games tremendously--i.e. 32-bit era and earlier, mostly platformers).

My PC can do practically everything I want it to do--except play Red Dead Redemption! ;) My lost sale alone though will do little to convince them to port it. They've made so much money off of it that they could care less.

But still, the only way I have ever enjoyed GTA-style games is with a mouse and keyboard. Autoaim is for wimps!

I've no intention of buying a console either. I think there are enough potential sales on the PC side that it would be a worthwhile port. GTA4 sold pretty well on PC.

Hell I bought a PS3 for two games...that's all I play and even lately those two games collect dust for almost 2 months now....

I just can't pull away from PC gaming...and now that D3 is around the corner (though they are talkinga bout a console version of that)....

Console version of Diablo 3 = FAIL

Sorry, but some games are not proper on console. There is no substitution for having a full keyboard at your disposal.

I remember I purchased a 360 just to play Mirror's Edge. It was such crap on the 360, the controls were garbage, and it eventually (months later) came out on PC with better graphics, PhysX support, awesome controls, online time trials, better download content, and it cost $20 less.

My XBOX has been sitting on a shelf since 2009. What a good for nothing piece of crap. With my luck it'll probably be banned when I boot it back up for being 'off the network' too long like a lot of people have experienced lately.

Simply not true. The 360 is good for something. Racing games.

Really? I typically prefer a controller to a mouse and keyboard for a 3rd person RPG. I'd play most MMOs with a controller if I could. That's one of the things I loved about FFXI. And FFXIV. So much simpler of an interface and you don't get misformed hands from trying to hit keys at odd angles.
