Samsung's latest smartphone is a specs monster

These aren't official specs. You seemed to have made up your mind on the device based on this, knowing full well that BGR has been wrong before. The OMAP 4460 isn't on any phone right now, so we have no way to compare it to anything. My best guess, it is downclocked to conserve battery life, but optimized to the teeth and along with ICS, will be faster than the SGS2. If I were you, I would hold judgement until the official announcement on the 11th.

I know full well BGR have been wrong before, but they have been correct as well. I was just giving my opinions on these specs. If it turns out to be wrong, no biggy, I will re-evaluate.
Downclocking to save battery life makes no sense when the screen is by far the biggest drain, and they made that thing bigger. Sure, when doing something the CPUs at 1.5GHz are going to be drawing more power than if they were at 1.2GHz, but they would also do it quicker, and shut down sooner. I am sure it would still equal a net power drain, but I would imagine it would be overshadowed by the extra power draw of a 720p, 4.5+ inch screen.
As for ICS and optimisations, that has yet to be seen, but I don't doubt the argument has some merit. Either way, I haven't made up my mind on anything yet. And I won't be passing judgement until my contract is up, much less on the 11th.
