Samsung's latest smartphone is a specs monster

Samsung offered a brief teaser of its upcoming Google "flagship" smartphone earlier this week. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus (previously known as the Nexus Prime) will be the standard bearer for Google's Ice Cream Sandwich mobile operating system.

Today, Boy Genius Report (BGR) is revealing the full specs of the Galaxy Nexus that will be unveiled next Tuesday:
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 9mm thin
  • 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
  • TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 32GB of built-in storage
  • 5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
  • 1080p HD video capture support
  • LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
  • NFC
  • 1,750 mAh battery
According to BGR, the Galaxy Nexus will at least initially be tied exclusively to Verizon's wireless network. BGR also notes that since this is a Google Experience device, you won't have to worry about dealing with TouchWiz getting in the way.

Yep, these are the "geniuses" that said that the iPhone 5 would be sprint exclusive.

Don't be so hasty... the iPhone 5 could still turn out to be a Sprint exclusive.

I've also heard Ice Cream Sandwich called Android 2.4 (unlikely) and 3.5 (by Anandtech). I'm sort of doubting the jump to 4.0 at this point. So that might be a sign this is bogus... or not, we'll find out on the 11th.

I was also really hoping for a 2000 mAh battery. The more the better really, even if it makes the phone a whopping 10 mm (GHASP!!!).

32 GB of internal storage is nice, but I didn't see any mention of a microSD slot? I hope there still is one. 32 GB + 32 GB would be a nice option for those who want it. I can't understand why SDXC isn't here yet... what's taking so long!

That's odd, I always assumed ICS was going to be 4.0. The 2.x branch was the phone version, the 3.x branch was the tablet version, and Ice Cream Sandwich was meant to be the unification of the two. From a source control standpoint it certainly makes the most sense to me to put it on it's own branch with it's own version number to make maintenance releases on the other branches easier to follow.

Yes, ICS is going to be 4.0 it has been stated by google before (not sure where and have no link). It does merge both 2.3.4 and 3.2 (1.x and 2.x being phone based and 3.x being tablet based). I am looking forward to getting it on my Bionic and my Asus Transformer.

SDXC is here in it's full form... not in the microSDXC yet though... maybe they are trying to figure out how to do it..for now... or see the market as not ready for it yet... a 64GB micro Card is pretty excessive for mobile storage...
